I was browsing music in youtube and found a wonderful version of Are You Strong Enough To Be My Man with Sheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks. They talk about how this song really is for women that have Extreme Careers.
Yes, I have an Extreme Career. Now it makes sense. I shall be less disappointed from now on. I shall be much more understanding from now on. I assumed one of us was broken in all my 'failed' or unsuccessful relationships.
I now know it requires a man that is much more powerful than normal. I mean, after all, my work is extremely 'ABnormal'. I consider myself to be extremely different even tho I see many women like me doing the same kinds of work. Unfortunately, those women all had men they were married to already.
Whether or not their husbands really believed in their work or supported them, the men WERE THERE already, in place and in love. They grew with the careers. They got USED to it. So, I am more awake and aware now.
I will still give my boyfriend hell tho. He likes it.
Edited to add the words to...
Strong Enough by Sheryl Crow
God, I feel like hell tonight Tears of rage I cannot fight I'd be the last to help you understand Are you strong enough to be my man? My man....
Nothing's true and nothing's right So let me be alone tonight Cause you can't change the way I am Are you strong enough to be my man?
Lie to me I promise I'll believe Lie to me But please don't leave
I have a face I cannot show I make the rules up as I go It's try and love me if you can Are you strong enough to be my man? ....my man....
Are you strong enough to be my man? Are you strong enough... Are you strong enough... my man...
When I show you that I just don't care When I'm throwing punches in the air When I'm broken down and I can't stand Are you man enough to be my man?
Lie to me I promise I'll believe Lie to me But please don't leave
