My conclusion of this blog will be in a comment to follow.

I was online this morning when I came across a very dreaded blog. I did not even want to read it, because it was obvious by the title what had transpired. I knew I had to leave a comment, however, letting this family know how I felt. I typed in my comment through tears and quickly exited MD to grieve alone. Let me tell you, it was not a pretty sight.....nor was it quiet. I clutched my own 'babies' close to me. I realized that God would do the right thing for their 'Sugar', whatever it may be, and I know that He did. There's room for all of us in Heaven, including our 'four-legged' children. That's exactly where she went, and she is all better now.

Truthfully, I have not even so much as dated a man who hunts, or at least, no longer did. Before anyone goes psycho on me saying how it needs to be done, please save your breath........or at least your fingers. I know all about that, but this has been my choice. As I mature, I would consider being a tad more lenient about this, providing that man did not ever discuss it with me or ever try to coerce me into even trying to eat what he killed. There has been one man, and only one man, in my life who maybe liked one or two of the dogs he had. He did like some wild little critters, but was not fond of 'pets'. That was his choice. Needless to say, this particular man is no longer in my life, which I am more than 'just fine' with. Because he did not even have at least a fondness for all animals was just one of the reasons a relationship between us would never have worked. The main reason, however, was that he just was not the man he led me to believe he was. Enough said about that 'old hat' crap. No! I am not a vegetarian. I just chose not to date or marry a man who was involved in the slaughtering process. I tend to stick with men who do not hunt, and yes, I remember what I stated above. As I mature................blah blah blah! I prefer men who go off in the woods to shoot animals armed with their cameras in tow. They can take such beautiful pictures.

I am just one of several people here in MDLand who loves all four-legged friends. When a person decides to have an animal, that pet should be welcomed into your home, your yard, your field....wherever......and, most importantly, into your heart. That pet should be treated as a part of your family. In other words, that pet should be treated no differently than a human child you adopt or have of your own. Some of you may think we animal lovers are crazy, but you know what? STAY AWAY FROM US! We will hurt you in places you did not know even existed!

Let me tell you about our 'kids". Our kids are here when we need them the most. They do not ever turn us away. They do not ever mock us. They do not make fun of us because we shed tears over a movie...or even a commercial. Instead, they know us, and they understand us. It is so nice to come home to a 'pet' that is waiting just inside the door........or outside the door.........or in a field, as far as that goes. And we are just as happy to greet them. They love our affection, and we love giving them affection. Our 'kids' know us so very well. I'd venture to guess they know and understand us better than any 'twp-legged' animal would or could. Our 'kids' know when we are happy, and they share in our joy. Our 'kids' know when we are feeling a little down, and they share in our sorrow. They are right there to comfort us. And all they request from us is to be fed and watered and nurtured in a timely manner. They are perfectly content to sit in our lap, or beside us in a chair. Heck! They're happy to sit at our feet! They just want to be near us, where they feel safe, happy and loved. They need our tender touches and attention, not unlike any person would need from us. We are all animals.

My heart is literally breaking for those of you who have lost or are losing your 'kids'. I firmly believe that the gentleness in humans eminates from compassion shown toward children, whether they be 'two-legged' or 'four-legged'.

I feel better. I am on a roll here, however. As long as I was writing about pets, I will continue on with a 'pet peeve' I have. It's about comments posted and courtesy. There has been one person in Blogland who wrote that time just did not allow him to answer back to comments left on his blogs. He stated that he did appreciate each and every one of them, and that he would reply back when he could. That is perfectly understandable to me. He took the time to apologize in advance.

It takes ten seconds or less to acknowledge a comment left on our blogs. All we need do is hit 'reply', type in the word 'Thanks', and finally........after all that hard work........hit 'send'. It would even take less time to respond with just an emoticon. It would let us know that you actually did take the time to read our comments to your blogs. It shows us that you appreciate the time we made for you in adding a comment to your blog. Plain and simple! There are those of us here who have to wonder if you even care about getting comments at all. If you don't, perhaps you should turn your 'Automatically Approved" thingamajig to 'off'. It really is common courtesy to respond in some way, so let's all try to do this. This is just another one of my opinions.

By the way, ALL comments posted to this blog will be automatically approved and acknowledged. They may not be answered immediately, but they will, indeed, be answered. This includes the comments I'm not thrilled about, but......so be it.

I hope I have not come off as a nasty person, because 99.99% of the time, I am not. Well......the percentage of my not being a nasty person may be a little high by about 50%, but it's close!

NOW..........I feel much better about life in general. REALLY!!!

Nothing hurts like seeing one of your fur babies pass on. My daughter, her four kids and I have set and cried while we tried mouth to mouth to try and save some of the critters. The maddest I have ever been is when a friend of my mom's was walking and came up on a box of 4 baby puppies on the side of the road in a frozen puddle of soft ice. We tried every way in the world to save them. We managed to save one and it as adopted out and is doing fine. People can be so cruel to innocent animals. I think they are sickos.

I don't know what I would do without my little ones..they love without expectations..they are happy when we are..they know when we are sad and are great tear licker's..and bring joy to broken hearts..healers of pain..the list goes on and on

On a serious note..
So you'd better pay attention, I don't do this alot..

I love animals..
All kinds of animals..

But here is my thinking..

If you eat meat, you kill.
You may let someone else do it for you, but you 'pay' someone else through the market chain, to the trucks who haul it, to the people who raise it..to kill it for you.

That being said..

I think everyone knows here I have chickens.
I love my chickens.
They're are dumb as a bag of rocks, but I was the one who raised them from chicks, fed them, watered them and protected them from predators.

But...if push comes to shove, and I needed the meat to live, or for somene else to live.
Dead chicken..
I'd have no problem in killing any animals, domestic or wild to live.
I don't hunt because I don't need the meat.
But if I did, *bang*..or *swoosh* depending on rifle or arrow.

If a predator attacks my livestock, I will kill it.
I don't take pleasure in it.
But I will do whatever it takes to protect my livestock and animals.

In as far as dogs or cats, it's the owners responsibility to judge when the animal is suffering.

I was forced to put down my cat myself about 10 years ago, after it has been run over by a truck.
I did'nt take pleasure in it.
But, it's back was broke and other injuries I won't go into (too vivid to post here..).
It was dieing and suffering, no vet around for miles, so I did what I had to do.

I did'nt mean to get into a long answer.

But the world is sometimes a cruel place.
You have to make judgement calls everyday to live or end suffering.
Hopefully, they are the right ones.

Two weeks ago I was moving... I was busy trying to do laundry... get moving truck here on time.. people to help move.... my four month old kitten Fiona always would jump into the dryer as I was putting clothes in and I would always... always reach in and pull her out... I didn t check that day... and didn t realize until half hour later what the thumping noise was in the dryer.... I l feel sick to my stomach right now ...I still can t believe I was so busy I let that happen... no more pets for me... I am hearbroken at what I did...

I have a cousin that thinks exactly like you. In fact after reading a portion of your blog I am considering writing a bog about her.
At any rate in loving animals it does not necessarily follow that one must love (for instance) them jumping on him/her to love them. Some in fact would likely have the same reaction as if a wild skunk suddenly jumped up on you. Another example is a person with allergies to cats could still love them even though they cannot have them around them.
As far as hunting, one can love wild animals as well, and still at times kill them for the meat. Particularily if they feel the meat is much safer to eat than the hormone invested meat you buy in the store. But each to his own.

kywonder: You are so right. It is extremely difficult. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, though, for trying to save those little puppies.

butterfly: Yes......they are soooo wonderful!

Joshua: I know you love animals. And I understand that hunting is a necessary thing. I only stated here that I prefer shooting with a camera. I have nothing against people who hunt for food.

PeppermintPatti: I understand.

odette: I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Fiona. It was a terrible accident, odette.....an accident. I feel so badly for you. I agree on one thing. No more animals for me, either. It's too hard.

IamTrinity: You are absolutely correct. You can't force people to love animals, no more than people can force others to love them. As for hunting? Right! No argument at all there..........

Josh......what the? Why on earth are you talking about killing for pleasure or killing for food??
But...if push comes to shove, and I needed the meat to live, or for somene else to live.
Dead chicken..
I'd have no problem in killing any animals, domestic or wild to live.
I don't hunt because I don't need the meat.
But if I did, *bang*..or *swoosh* depending on rifle or arrow
Please read the blog.....no one is questioning your right to kill anything!
Dang, the woman is grieving and you gotta go there? Why?

IAM: Same thing...

As far as hunting, one can love wild animals as well, and still at times kill them for the meat. Particularily if they feel the meat is much safer to eat than the hormone invested meat you buy in the store. But each to his own
.

Save it for another blog, please.

Peabianjay: Thank you very much.

Wouldn'tItBeGr8To: Thank you so very much for your kindness toward my feelings here. This blog was taken way out of context from what I had intended. You are absolutely correct. This was not a blog against people who hunt, as I stated in my comments above. I, once again, merely stated that I PREFER a man who shoots wildlife with his camera. Thank you for helping me point that out.

silksox: Thank you. And thank you, too, for the kind words in your email.
