Today is my Christmas!! No, I am not celebrating Hannukah - but I am celebrating with my family. My daughter was unable to get Christmas Day off, so she arrived here last night with her b/f and picked up my Mom on the way, and they will return to the coast tomorrow. I am so lucky to have her here at all at this special time of year - so Christmas is today!
They arrived here last night about 6:30 pm on an extremely snowy day. I was very concerned about her driving through all the passes in the mountains, on the narrow, winding roads. She had said she wanted to be here before dark - and I was very concerned by 5:00 when she didn't show up.
Although she drives for a living, the conditions were not the best. There were blizzard warnings at the coast, and up here in the mountains, it was just steady snow all night and day. Normally, from where she lives, it's about a 4.5 hour drive to my house.
At 5:30pm I contacted her to find out she was just picking my Mom up. She had been delayed at the coast with 3 semi's overturned on the highway. Being the good driver she is, she had no problems with the drive here. I'm so thrilled to have here for the day. I would love her to be here longer, but I'm grateful that she is able to be here at all.
I feel just like a little kid, I'm so excited. This morning will be spent opening our stockings and getting the turkey ready for dinner. At lunch, my grand-daughter (who was adopted out), will come with her parents and siblings and we'll have our gift exchange.
It's just like a Christmas card here, with my newly painted red barn standing out clearly in the snow. I feel so lucky to have everyone here right now and to be able to spend time with all my loved ones.
So today, for me, it's Christmas!

Glad you daughter got to make it in. Will pray for her safety on the way home. It is not her that you have to worry about, but all the others who can't drive in that fluffy white stuff.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
