Leftover turkey - I'm talking about the real thing, not anyone's latest online disaster. I mean really, how much of it can you eat?

As a single person, I don't mind leftovers, but one or two days, and I'm done. I think it may have something to do with my personality as well. As an innovator and always looking for change, I get bored easily, and that relates to food as well as a lot of other things.

But yeah, leftover turkey, I can have it for one more dinner, and a couple of sandwiches, and then I'm done. I don't want to make a casserole, I don't want to freeze the darn stuff to haul it out months later with freezer burn, and although I make a mean turkey soup, I don't want to be eating that for days at a time either!

By the time day 4 comes around, I'm usually looking to invite the local wildlife (the four legged kind - not two) over for a feast. Unfortunately, the local coyotes seem to prefer my cats to the turkey!

Oh, I know you can make turkey casseroles and all kinds of supposedly tasty dishes, but you know - when you're done, you're done.

If anyone has been reading my blogs, they'll know that my Christmas was Monday, with turkey and all the trimmings. So now we're on day two of leftovers. It's already looking a bit old, and taking far too much room in my fridge - so where IS the local wildlife?

Too bad the local deer wouldn't eat it, they've had a feast on the new trees planted in my pasture and I'd gladly share the turkey with them - just leave my dang trees alone!
