I hadn't been in Blogland in a while and so when I returned this morning to read some posts, I was a little confused. I picked up on some tension in the air here, but as usual, I missed the first shots fired and simply can't get a handle by reading all of the reprisals. There's a plethora of opinions flying around, however, so I thought I'd add mine.

I started out with a post from the "Most Popular" section. The blogger took exception to other bloggers who do not acknowledge commenters, stating that such bloggers are rude and ignorant. I couldn't agree less. I usually do a pretty good job in responding to commenters - but not always. Sometimes I don't because I simply haven't the time as I have both a job and something of a life outside of Blogland. Sometimes I don't simply because I'm not moved to. I don't write blog posts in order to initiate a dialog. This is my part of the dialog. Below these words is a comment section if any would like to add his or her part of the dialog. I was set to make such a comment on the post, but as I began writing I noticed that my comment would be posted "upon approval". Ironically, I've always felt imposing an approval of comments was rude. That's my opinion.

I then read a post where a blogger hinted at the idea that MD should invoke a one blog per day rule. I couldn't agree more. I've always felt that the best thing MD ever did was when it implemented the one comment per blog rule. Immediately, the blog section became less like the forums and more like . . .well . . .a blog section. A one blog post per day rule would immediately raise the quality of reading here exponentially. That's my opinion.

I want to thank all of you who comment, in advance, as I'll be watching the NFL Playoffs and of course, Kentucky vs Louisville today.

But...But...if we could only post one per day, how would I keep the people of MD updated on my cat's bowel movements, the news, the seven jokes I received in e-mail. Oh you are cruel!

You may get hate mail on this one, but I agree with you. Now how about limiting the number of hours people can sit in chat and fight? Or number of times one can bash each other in the forums?? May force people to get up from the computer once in a while.

I disagree with your opinions and I am disappointed that you would hold such flawed ideas.

But I will deal with my disappointment in you in an adult like manner.

I am deleting you from my friends list. ~*~

I, too, think this has become more like a bulletin board than a blog section.

While I do enjoy a joke or a funny anecdote every now and again, they could include the joke in their blog, or simply post it in the forums where there is a section for such. If the joke is only one per day, that is fine, but this is a free place where there are some guidelines posted.

I am not saying this to rain on anyone's parade, but simply for the fact that sometimes, I am just not in the mood for joke, after joke, after joke... if I wish to laugh, I can always go to the joke section of the forums.

This is not directed toward anyone on this site, but rather as a request for a common courtesy of only one joke per day, one funny story per day, and one honest to goodness blog about something you feel strongly about, what motivates you, what you care about .. so that people can obtain a better insight to who you are inside as well as what you look like outside.

There are many good caring people here that I am sure are trying to make someone's day a little (hint at that word) brighter, but not so often? please? And let us know more about you... thank you..

Great Blog about what you feel and stated in a courteous manner.....

And, off of my serious soapbox.. I would agree with unionman and delete you from my friends list, but I see that it has already happened.. I still love ya.. in that sorta special way (and maybe I mean the short bus manner, but then again, maybe I don't .. only my psychiatrist knows for sure.... )

I can't help thinking a one blog a day rule might see a significant drop in the number of people on line. It's already almost halved since I first joined. I would imagine the site owners are more interested in how many people are using the site than how many blogs they post.

Given the purpose of a weblog being like a journal entry, there's no reason why it should be limited to just one a day, those who enjoy writing or simply making entries into their personal on line journal would be limited as to what to write and when.... I really don't like the idea, but of course I wouldn't, I often write at quite a rate... other times I write nothing... it all depends on how much time I have that particular day and what inspires me. It doesn't take me long to post either, I'm a pretty fast typist.

These are just my musings... I've managed to ignore most of the new year blogland furore, but I liked the tone of your blog. I like someone who says what they think and doesn't beat about the bush.

A good contribution to a fairly tired subject... one which will probably run and run for some time to come.

Oh, and I'm not offended if I don't get a reply to a comment ... I'm with you on that one. I'm aware some people busy lives. Not all of us have the luxury of being able to get on line at any time of the day or night. I've experienced both and know how hard it can be sometimes to keep up with everyone when life just gets in the way.

This comment has turned out much longer than I intended. Does anyone have a cure for verbal diahorrea?

How about limiting the amount of hours Matchdoctor can be logged onto. Say between 1:00 a m and 4:00 a m. That should cut down on some of the tension.

If you limit bloggers to one a day Matchdoctor will lose money.

Open your profile, post your one blog, open the other twenty current blogs, nothing else to do in blogland so leave to go to another blogsite until tomorrow. In the meantime, Matchdoctor is getting paid for the numbers of people the ads are exposed to. Let's say there are 40 regular bloggers per day (for that one blog a day rule)..... 40 readers who blog and maybe 150 readers who don't blog and who don't necessarily open all of the blogs for exposure to the ads or clicking on the ads.

It seems to me that ad income would have to go way down.

I like my way better. Enforce a rule that everybody has to post ten blogs a day. Half of those have to be insulting to other members. Do you have any idea the number of ad exposures only one insulting blog would bring? Each person reading will have to keep up with every comment and counter comment. Every blog and counter blog. Whose on the popular page. They'll be checking to see if anybody said anything that could be remotely taken to be about them so that they can click open a page and be exposed to another ad. Clicking open profiles of people who made comments you don't like so that you can get some dirt on them or laugh at them. Human nature being what it is they are not going to want to miss a thing. Click, click, click, click, click..... Exposure to thousands more ads.

Tension in blogworld creates a beehive of activity in this place that enriches the pockets of the powers that be. I'll bet they're all billionaires by now.

I don't write blog posts in order to initiate a dialog.
Bang on.

What I don't understand is how anyone is allowed to post full excerpts of copyrighted materials, with or without quotes.

A 'quote' is just that, a simple 'quote' a small part of something.

I disagree with your one blog per day suggestion. I, along with another member
will delete you from my friend list accordingly.

Well I was too tired to read much when I came back here. As soon as I started reading it was obvious most were well just not my cup of tea. Oh well so off I went again. Came back for a minute and read this to which I agree so of course means I enjoyed which of course means you must be right . Or was that I was looking back to see who was looking back to see? Never mind I must be bored.

A one blog post per day rule would immediately raise the quality of reading here exponentially.
That and being able to use how many dollar words..........ya know with inflation and all. ~*~

Someone needs to come up with a way to summarize the drama that unfolds on here for those of us that don't get a chance to sign-on EVERY FKNG DAY! Right now all we have is the complaint forum and a few odd blogs posted by old skeezers, some by lonely/single/old/way past their prime Internet psychologists handing out advice on how to get a date and how to act on an Internet Dating Site such as this one....

I'll probably start with punks blogs, they're always informative....sorta....I don't for one second believe he blogs while slamming down a can of PBR with his left hand and masturbating with the right. I'm sure that's just one of those weird Internet rumors, probably.

The one blog a day rule....I dunno....if that goes into effect, the more prolific bloggers might go outside, breathe a little air and step out in front of a fkng bus...or something. I'm all about caring and shit.

Maybe I'll blog....Sci got some new boots yesterday, camo boots...Danners...gave me wood.....

(just kidding...)

Actually, limiting some folks to one blog per day would give too many people too much time on their hands.

I'd go for a max of say... three per day, as that would allow the more verbose among us to post a two or three part deal without a three day wait... (which, given the average attention span hereabouts would result in confusion amongst the readership).

And hey, where ya been? I got spoilt with the Christmas days...

and then...

zip. So I vote that everyone be required to blog at least once every week - and that you do twice that...

I saw the title of this blog and immediately clicked it. I thought for sure we were all gonna get treated to a pic of your arse.

But this was good, too.
