I watched as you were sleeping
in a garden by the spring
enchanted by the sound of water
and the songbirds as they sing

I saw your face with eyes closed
with yet you showed a smile
I sensed complete contentment
as I watched you for a while

I thought that you were dreaming
caught up in some sweet bliss
hoping it was of me you dreamed
I woke you with a gentle kiss
