This happened to me in the spring of 2008. My mom and I had made a day trip over to the next largest city from us to go shopping. It is approximately 80 miles away. Before we left, I had put a load of clothes on to wash, so I could dry them when we got home.. 
OK well when we DID get back, all was quiet and I knew I still needed to dry them but I first took a little break. I am not used to driving that long and was tired. After resting for approximately 15 min..... I heard it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 
The washer started up all over again!!!!!!!!! That is from the beginning to the end, it completed the full cycle!! It freaked me a little but I waited until it was done. Since then, there has been nothing!!!!!!!! At least, nothing I have noticed. I thought if indeed it was a spirit, it may have been my late husband letting me know he was near. I have not decided for sure if I even believe for sure that ghosts exist, but I have to admit, after that little experience, I am leaning towards believing!!!!!!!!!
