If the Bushites, along with their corporate and banking buddies, haven't done enough damage to our country, we now have idiots from the left trying to do their part. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wants us to stop calling fish “fish” and start calling them “sea kittens.” The animal rights group is interested in saving the lives of fish that people eat and hopes the name change will encourage more people to view fish as cute and lovable, rather than dinner. I would like to label this essay a joke, but unfortunately, it is the truth.
AP - 1/15/2009 - While real kittens — which PETA calls “land” kittens — are furry and playful, PETA is promoting the “sea kittens” as scaly, yes, but also bright, affectionate beings capable of learning and feeling pain.
The group is petitioning the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to stop promoting “the hunting of sea kittens (otherwise known as ‘fishing’).” The sea kittens campaign includes short online stories, a create-your-own-sea-kitten interactive web site, and free avatars and desktop banners. One would have to assume that the people involved in this nonsense do not have to work for a living. Trust Fund Babbies? They are so out of touch with reality, that one would also have to question their sanity. Sea kittens? Will cities now have pass leash ordinances for sea kittens and ban the cruel imprisonment of fish . . . er-r-r-r sea kittens, in aquariums? Can fishermen expect wild eyed banshees to appear out of nowhere to break their fishing poles and throw their tackle boxes into the lake?
PETA started out with some valid causes, namely the torturing of stolen puppies in drug company labs and the mass execution of greyhounds that did not finish first in races. However, they have increasingly gone off the deep end as they got more and more attention in the media, and attorneys to do their bidding. Much of their energy in recent years has been targeted against dairy farmers and cattle ranches. Personally, I think that soy milk and cheese suck. No wait a minute . . . I think a spin-off organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants, now claims that plants also have high intelligence and deep feelings, too. That leaves us dirt to eat.
Maybe we need to pass a leash ordinance for PETA members?

The Lord must love crazy people, because he made an awful lot of them.
I had a fried sea kitten dinner last night, and will go sea-kittening next weekend.
It does have a certain nice ring to it.

I think this sea kittens thing is a wonderful idea. And to promote the program I think as many PETA members as possible should swim in the waters off South Africa among the Great White Sea Kittens! There should be no problem as the sea kittens are "affectionate beings".

This is both crazy and hilarious!! I love all the comments left too! Ok well my thought is, how big does the "sea kitten" need to get before it no longer qualifies as the "sea kitten?" I mean wouldn't it then be a sea TIGER? or something? Not to mention some of them bite much harder than a house kitten, and you can't even SLEEP with them!!! That is unless you don't mind "scales." and dead "sea kitten smells.!!"
