I so strongly despise those retarded "above the influence" ads. Last night I saw an ad where they had kids talking about how they "stole from my sister," "made my mom cry," "left my friends at a party to find their own way home," "got straight Ds," etc. All of these negative things that weed had supposedly caused them to do. That shit annoys the crap out of me. Weed doesn't make ANYONE do anything...except maybe eat excessively and fall asleep. If a kid is giving up on their life and doing inexcusable things, why in the world would a parent blame it on weed? Do they ever stop to think that maybe it's their shitty parenting?
They end the commercial by asking "What has weed done for you lately?" Well by their logic, since apparently weed is the cause of everything bad that a kid does, shouldn't we also extend that logic to say that when you smoke weed, EVERYTHING you do is the result of the pot? Well then, for me, weed has gotten me into a great music university, gotten me on Dean's List at said university, gotten me a job at Macy's and made me the top seller in my department, gotten me a great boyfriend, and (this one is for real...weed totally does this...lol) made me appreciate music and food SO much more while I'm high, and generally made my life awesome.
It's cool if people want to encourage people not to smoke pot...that's their choice...but can we do it honestly? I mean, if you have to villify it by blaming it for every other bad choice a troubled teen makes, then that's not coming at the issue honestly. Weed alone is not going to make you get shitty grades, or treat other people like crap, because I smoke it sometimes, and I think I'm a pretty okay kid. When a kid succeeds while smoking pot, we don't give pot the credit, so why give it the blame? It's just insulting to teenagers to feed them such propeganda-laden nonsense. Have we no respect for their intelligence?

I know what 'weed' has done for me...made my hair shiny!! All thanks to Hempz products! Now onto a serious note, I have heard mixed messages on the 'weed' topic and personally I think America needs to figure out what it wants. Why does the government make it illegal to smoke weed yet allow the sale of pipes to smoke it in, hats, jewelry, etc to promote it? Doesn't that send mixed signals? I think the main reason you see those ads is because smoking weed tends to be a 'starter' drug. Meaning some people that will try weed will also, at some point, try a stronger drug. I'm not saying ALL people but some. As a Christian I have many people that will ask me "Well, if God made the plant to smoke weed then what's so wrong about it? I don't get into fights with people over petty issues...life's too short, but I do tell them this, "Look, all I can tell you is that in the bible it says to obey the laws of the land...and in 'this land' aka USA, it's illegal." Roman's 13:1-7 & Acts 5:29. We are to obey the laws of the land as long as it doesn't contradict with the laws of God (like in the Hitler movement) So you've raised a good point in this blog. We are free to a certain point in this country...but why does the government have to make it soo confusing for us?
