I wonder how Americans are enjoying the Global Warming we are experiencing this winter. The fact is we have been slowly cooling again over the last few years. All these brilliant scientists are now wondering if we might be slowly slipping into a new Ice Age. Has anyone noticed that since Al Gore and his handful of politically paid scientists have been caught with egg on their faces they are now calling it Climate Change rather than Global Warming? Well, guess what, they are actually right for a change. We are having Climate Changes. It's called Spring, Summer, Autumn, Fall, and Winter. DUH!

Now, concerning oil. I received a form letter from Newt Gingrich the other day. According to his numbers we send roughly fity million dollars a day to Russia for oil, roughly one hundred and ninety million a day to Saudi Arabia, and roughly one hundred and fifty million dollars a day to our dear enemy Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. I decided to crunch the numbers over a year.
Saudi Arabia: $59,350,000,000 Yup, that's billions folks.
Venezuela: $54,750,000,000
Russia: $18,250,000,000
------------------------
Total $132,350,000,000 Oil from Iraq and Iran wasn't listed so you can add some more to that figure.

We are being held hostage by countries that hate everything we stand for. Is it any wonder Russia can rebuild their military? We give them the money to do so! Is it any wonder Some of these countries supply terrorists with weapons? We give them the money to do so.

Now what about oil in our own country? Our outer Continental Shelf is chock full of oil but your liberal congress says NO.
We could be drilling in Anwar which could produce a million gallons of oil a day. This is a flat, treeless area of 2,000 acres out of the 19,000,000 acres there, roughly the size of a postage stamp on a football field, but the liberal congress says NO.
We have the largest area of oil Shale anywhere in the WORLD, capable of being refined into biodiesel and jet fuel, but the liberal congress says NO. Well, golly gee, I guess our congress would rather continue feeding terrorists with the money to fight us than to let us be a truly FREE country again.

Now, before some on here want to call my blog argumentive, it is not. It is my thoughts, and if you argue with it then it is YOU being argumentive!!

Snow covered Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood last week. This winter has been the coldest in the northern Oregon Cascades since 1993. Snow is piling up on Mount Hood. The last two winters in the Willamette Valley have been the coolest in more than a decade.
So is global warming a thing of the past? Maybe for the time being, but probably not over the longer term, scientists say.

In the short window of a few months, routine shifts in weather such as the one the Northwest is experiencing now -- driven by a well-known climate cycle known as La Nina -- easily overwhelm whatever trends might be gripping the globe over years or decades.

In that sense, global warming may be gone for now. Globally, this is the coolest winter since 2001, according to the National Climatic Data Center. Sea ice is even making a bit of a comeback after a dramatic meltoff last summer.

The cool resurgence is fueling arguments by some people skeptical about global warming that natural forces, not human factors such as greenhouse gases, dominate the climate.

But climate scientists in the Northwest say it's a matter of short-term versus long-term perspective. The cool winter doesn't mean there's no warming trend, they say. Any trend remains subtle and is simply hidden for the time being.

"There's a lot of variation, and the (warming) signal's pretty weak -- at least, so far, it's pretty weak," said Clifford Mass, a professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington.

The effects of warming on Northwest weather remain uncertain, he says. For example, he sees no clear decline in snowpack, although one is probably likely if warming continues.

One year is not nearly enough time to suggest that a trend does or doesn't exist, researchers say.

"As you move to smaller and smaller time scales, it gets harder and harder to see the effect of rising temperatures," said Philip Mote, a climate scientist at the University of Washington who was lead author of a recent international report on global climate change. "If La Nina goes away and the long-term temperatures are still below average, I'll eat my hat."

I'd like to take Gore and his politically pain Thugs and stack them up for firewood. Show them what REAL warming feels like.

uhhhh,,,,

what he is saying is,,,,

it may not be warm now,,,,but you wait,,,it's going to get warmer....it's going to get warmer,,,, it's going to get warmer,,,,there's no place like home,,,,it's going to (opps, let a quote from another fairy tale slip in there)....

Around July, on a day when it's hot enough to fry an egg on the pavement, we'll here,,,, see, it's warmer,,,, it's global warming,,,,, we need to change our gas, outlaw your car, shut down the coal mines, stop raising live stock, and institute a new carbon footprint tax,,,, cause it's warmer. We'll close all the evil manufacturing plants,,,, (or course they will move to China which has a stellor environmental record.....ahemmm)

I'm from the south,,,, it's always hot,,,,unless it's cold. Toss some more coal in the turbine,,,, and fire up the Carrier,,,,

FREON,,,, it's what's for supper. Can make it hot or cold inside,,,, a miricle process.

Now,,,, if you don't mind,,, I'm going to idle my car all night, turn on all the lights, and sit outside with cans of chlorinated propelant spary cans,,,, and see if get this place to warm up some.... this might take a while.... honey,,,toss another piece of that redwood in the wood stove will you,,,, thanks,,,,that's lovely.

Perhaps the Ice age is hidden for the time being as well then?

"There's a lot of variation, and the (warming) signal's pretty weak -- at least, so far, it's pretty weak," said Clifford Mass, a professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington.

So week as to be non existent it would seem.

Well gee Mr. Mote that is a terrible argument for man made Global Warming. You are simply suggesting that the temperatures change with the atmospheric jet stream. I think kids learn that in about 7th grade.

Let me bust your bubble for a moment.
While you sit here and make jokes of something you hardly hold any professional or educated knowledge on you have seemed to miss a few important points and particulars.
While it may be cooler in some areas of the globe it is heating up in others. The rapidly shifting weather patterns are not normal.
Example, As I loo out my window I see mountain peaks with no snow caps. Last year this time and many years previous there has always been 12 to 14 feet of snow. Now there's only a few inches. But hey, nothing I can say will change your ignorance to this issue. It is too scary that just maybe there is a global warming issue.
Thanks for the blog, I'm gonna email it to my professors. Im sure they are gonna get just as big a laugh from it as I did.

Blog on.
And kudos

And while you are about it be sure to email the information of the NON politcally paid scientists that say otherwise.

But hey, nothing I can say will change your ignorance to this issue. It is too scary that just maybe there is a global warming issue.

And might I suggest nothing I can say will change your ignorance about cycles of natural warming and cooling of the earth.

It seems for every study these days there's another one around the corner saying the opposite, depends on what professor you ask. It's the coldest it's ever been in Wisc in 13 years, last year had record snow falls also. Ever since I left Wisc. nearly five years ago the winters have been steadily getting colder. This weather pattern has happened in other areas also as I've seen on National Geographic where Ice is thicker now, not thinner in some places than it ever was. So it all depends on who you ask. They also said on that channel, that we didn't keep records of weather way back when, so there isn't really any accurate way to tell, the planet could have been warmer back lets say when Christ was born and is steadily getting colder. After all no one kept records of the weather back then. They said the planet did at one time get warmer, but then got colder, but I can't remember off my head the dates just now. TC Lost

That is a lot of money to send overseas. It is the price tag for some peoples idiotic love of gas guzzlers and high consumption life styles.

I think Russia figured out you don't need a huge army if you have your hand on a gas valve, as did Hugo, Evo, and several others. They are a step ahead of us. We have a valve on much of the world's food, but do we use it? If Hugo decided to sell the 10% of our gas supply to China instead of us, what would happen? Major crash. If Russia cut off our oil, the same. Now, Hugo talks, but if he starts turning that valve....But it won't happen. World leaders and controllers are all in bed together, and the nationalistic chest thumping is just for the rubes.

A key concept is the price of a barrel of oil in oil used to produce it. Ours costs more and more, and we buy cheaper foreign oil until we really need ours, as in, - the price is up

Basic conservation would decrease our purchasing too. Lock up criminals instead of lighting the whole country all night, public transport, and lots of things the rest of the world is already doing.

As far as pretending glaciers are not decreasing, or the permafrost melting...don't let the facts get in your way. Global warming does not mean that it is hot every day in every place.

PS This is still America. The majority (through their elected representatives) still rules.

Sorry TTom but I have to disagree with you. There are two sets of thought by scientists on this issue, and one set is in direct contrast to the other. You evidently are listening to one and I am listening to the other. Your set also says these new fangled "energy efficent" light bulbs are better for the environment than the old ones. Really? when the old type broke all we had to do was sweep them up and throw them in the garbage. When you break a new one you can spend thousands of dollars cleaning up the mess due to the mercury in them which is in fact DANGEROUS to the environment AND to humanity. I guess I'll just keep listening to the set that actually shows some semblance of sensibility.
I suspect that the most dangerous thing to the environment are environmentalists.
