The true comfort of home is "being" there. It is not found in "My Own Bed" or my TV or my kitchen or any other thing, but in having a place to be. That place is sacred in the way it shields me from intruders and the outside world. Perhaps this is in some basic sense the essence of a cave. These days still find me working in Ft Smith, Arkansas but I have moved my truck/RV to Barling where I have rented a building to finish the last portions of my construction work. As many of you know I have been working on the truck, which when I first began this project, was an old 20' U-Haul truck. Now it is almost fully customized with a sink, microwave/toaster oven, 2 TV's bed etc and it is actually very warm even in the coldest of weather. The truck interior is all pine and cedar planking, patterned the same as my cabin on the mountain and so it feels like an extension of home to me except for the view of the river valley which I sorely miss. Tonight I ran out of spray adhesive so I came into town to buy some and now I find myself loafing around. There is nobody to talk to this late at night so I figured I would say "hi" to each of you and wish you a Happy Inauguration Day regardless who you may have voted for!
