This site does a decent job of asking people who they are, but I think this would be a better set of questions. I would certainly learn more about a prospective partner if they answered all of these questions. More importantly, perhaps, they would learn more about themself.
1) Who is your favourite artist? Why?
2) What are your religious beliefs? What is your justification for them? Do you have an open enough mind and stron enough convition to discuss them with someone of an opposing viewpoint?
3) What would you do if you knew you had only one week to live?
4) What was the best day of your life?
5) If you like music, why? If not, why not?
6) Would you show your kids the Star Wars movies in the order they were made, or would you start with episode one?
7) If you could be anyone for a day, a week, or a year, who would it be?
8) What is your favorite book, movie, and TV show? Why?
9) Which teacher, coach, or mentor influenced your life the most?
10) Who do you love?
11) What is your best quality?
12) What is your worst quality?
13) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
14) What are you doing to improve yourself?
15) What is the most important thing in your life?
17) What will happen to you when you die?
18) How does your life today compare to how you imagined it as a kid?
Just some food for thought. I'll get around to answering these myself and posting them later if anyone is interested.

What degree are you awarded after all of that? All you would end up with is minor dissertation. Don't observe and value what people say, measure them by what they do. Good blog anyway.

I agree with Herodotus.
Don't observe and value what people say, measure them by what they do Anything can be written in a profile and words are just words unless the words are backed up by action.
If you are patient, people will tell you who and what they are in time through his or her words and actions. Sometimes disappointing, sometimes not.
These are great questions, but make sure you have a real and worthy person to share these questions with.

I agree, but when you're on the internet, you have to take people for the word.

Those are questions you can ask someone with whom you have initiated some contact. I, for one, would not publicly post my answers to most of those questions on the internet and not one of them gives any indication as to who I am.

Wow. I would think the lovely MD'ers would jump on a chance to blow smoke up their own ass. Well, I'll answer your questions, sooner! 1) Who is your favourite artist? Why? Bob Ross. He got me off of my addiction to sleeping pills.
2) What are your religious beliefs? What is your justification for them? Do you have an open enough mind and strong enough conviction to discuss them with someone of an opposing viewpoint? I believe I am not religious. I justify my belief by not having a need for it. Yes, my mind is wide opened (in fact, I believe the hole in my frontal lobe has not completely healed from last week's brain fcking). And, I thoroughly enjoy listening to other's viewpoints.
3) What would you do if you knew you had only one week to live? Let's just say, I wouldn't stop with the 2x4 and I'd be on the next plane to The Barn.
4) What was the best day of your life? The day I was born.
5) If you like music, why? If not, why not? I like music because it gives great back massages.
6) Would you show your kids the Star Wars movies in the order they were made, or would you start with episode one? I would start with Spaceballs.
7) If you could be anyone for a day, a week, or a year, who would it be? Myself (I'm really looking forward to that)
8) What is your favorite book, movie, and TV show? Why? Ok...I can only think of a handful that are all 3...so, I'd have to say the Dead Zone (although it's really not King's best)
9) Which teacher, coach, or mentor influenced your life the most? I'm going to have to say LaVar Burton and David Berkowitz....yup, yup
10) Who do you love? I think the question is...."Who don't I love?"
11) What is your best quality? My uvula. It is very understanding and always willing to lend an ear.
12) What is your worst quality? I can't lick my back.
13) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? The bloodsucking leech attached to my ass (I really have to get him removed)
14) What are you doing to improve yourself? I am joining the circus to be an elephant-ass scrubber (better than my current job)
15) What is the most important thing in your life? My subscription to "Popular Whittling"
17) What will happen to you when you die? ummm...I'm going to go with "Disney World for $200"
18) How does your life today compare to how you imagined it as a kid? I really thought I'd grow up to be an empty snail shell and live in a little puddle on a rock in East Boothbay Harbor, ME (kinda disappointed).
