I have a way with words. When I remind the other bloggers about the rules here and mention some people are telling the same jokes (disguised as blogs) over again, it spawns other blogs... both for and against my comments. Although I'm repeating the request of Matchdoctor and their moderators, it's perceived (by some) as a form of repression, control, to the point of calling me the Blog Police... or was that Blog Nazi?

Some people have gone as so far as accuse me of not having fun. How untrue. I love jokes. I've blogged jokes myself... yes it's allowed. In my quest for getting people to be more aware what they blog, all sorts of attitudes arise.

If you knew me in my personal life, you would know laughter is a part of my world. Everything has it's place. There's a serious side and a 'follow the rules' side and 'show respect for others' side too.

Sometimes, it's best to follow the rules... maybe there is a reason that's not open for discussion. Like:
Don't take your dog in the grocery store.
Don't eat food on the bus.
No flash cameras at the opera.
Turn off your cellphone in a movie theater.

I remember the Eric Clapton concert a few years ago.... I saw Clapton with Cream in 1969 and some 35 years later, I was trying to savor every note. But, the woman behind me had her cellphone and was giving a 'blow-by-blow' taking photos and e-mailing them to a friend. Her distraction was ruining the concert. I turned around and said "Please lady, let us all enjoy the show" she said something to her husband who tapped me on the shoulder and said "Asshole, if you say another word to my wife, I'm gonna tear you apart"
My friend next to me wanted to know what was going on... so I explained. She opened her walled revealing a badge and police ID... turned to the guy behind me and said "Do you want to see the rest of this concert?"

She was the distraction... not me and her husband was willing to fight to allow her to continue to disrupt the concert. That was Eric Clapton at $175 a seat... not a tailgate party outside the football stadium.

I remember in elementary school, the teachers appointed responsible students to be hall monitors. That meant, an adult trusted your judgment to help them enforce some of the rules. if you went against the monitor, you went against the teacher.
Does that make a person who 'reminds' people we have rules make them a self appointed blog Nazi?
The answer is no.

When I go to a concert, there are all sorts of staff who are there to (help) seat people, monitor the security... see to it you can go to the restroom safely, knowing if someone were to snatch your wallet and run, they (probably) wouldn't get too far before security stopped them.

I mentioned (in an old blog) that I was asked by the forum owner at another site to become a moderator. I declined simply because I didn't want to be perceived as 'the heavy' It would have ruined the fun I was having at that forum. At the time, I didn't think about it... I could have created another profile simply for that duty and no one there would have known it was me who was moderating the forums.

Rather than advise the other members about repetitive joke blogs... and trying to raise the consciousness of what MD intended blogs to be, it would be MUCH EASIER to report them to MD for relocation or deletion.
At that point the offenders would get annoyed with MD (and not me) because their joke blogs got moved to the joke forum...
Ultimately, they "wouldn't get it"

I'm learning a new drawing program and wanted to buy a tutorial to speed up the process. So, I went to the bookstore. I happened to see all sorts of books on blogs, blogging, more effective blogging. etc. "How good is this?" I thought. There is an art to writing blogs... (well, I knew that) but it doesn't apply to MD. We are here only to get praise for 'cutting & pasting' e-mails from friends. Afterall, laughter is the best medicine and when no new bloggers or real blogs appear in blogland, we can sift through old cut & pasted jokes because... laughter is reason enough to do it. I think otherwise... that is why I'm trying to motivate/influence some people to write blogs and not cut & paste the same jokes... over and over.

So call me the Blog Nazi if you will... that will bring more attention to my cause.

Instructions to post a blog are clear, persons might want to refer to the part where it says "tag" and it says if you have a joke be certain to tag it so. Therefore, for those who have a joke, to make this clear to you and anyone who might not be clear, this does not have to go to the forum according to what I read about blogs. If the rules here at MD are wrong or I am reading the blogging rules wrong, let me know ok? tc Lost

For the record... about half of the blogs are not tagged.

This has been the way it always has here... if you try to direct anyone to the rules, they sneer and call you names. I love a good joke anytime, anyplace, anywhere... and I do cut and paste a joke at the end of my blogs.. has been my style as this is my journal for my kiddos after I am no longer around.

I open with some quote that has brought me a message for the day, then try to write my original thoughts in a manner that those that are paranoid about the blog being about them will not have it appear as such.. but that has been all in vain also. My words and thoughts have so often times been misinterpreted and angered so many with sharp comebacks that I leave periodically to regroup (I may be street smart, but ouchies pinch after a while, and even the lizards and iguanas need a rest period to grow new skin). From this point on, I will put a disclaimer at the end of my blogs to say that it was about no one, for no one, to no one here.

I believe along the same line as you about rules and what constitutes politeness and formality in following such, but the Mods here have taken more than abuse for their trying to steer people to better suited locations for their posts.. many have been neutered in their attempts and thus it has caused trepidation among any wanna-be individuals who have been asked to become a Mod... I have heard and seen a few run screaming down streets, yelling.. (while holding their hands over the particular areas of neutering ... different zones for different genders).. "No, not for all the money in the heavens, as I have become fond of the boys/girls" and did not understand this phenomenon until I read some of the nasty-azzed blogs about "trying to shove rules in faces"...

Sorry, this was so long.. I apologize...

*disclaimer: my comments, thoughts, opinions, blogs, ideas, words... are so not about you, you, or you... they live only in my mind about fictional characters... muuuuu aaaaaawwww haaaaa haaaa*

My guess is that these folks never read the blog rules, before writing a blog. Basically, the blog rules are common sense and good writing etiquette - not ridiculous restrictions placed by the soup nazi.

How lazy (or rude) is that?
I don't have any new cut & paste jokes... so, I'll just cut & paste some old ones so I can get my face on the blog page.

This was a follow-up comment you made on your blog from yesterday, about 'recycled' jokes.

My curiousity piqued, I looked, and discovered that this is your fifth (?) blog of 2009 that addresses blogging styles, 'cut and paste' issues, respect for MD, etc.

Now of course, I happen to agree with you...to a point. That's why I don't read beyond the first line or two, if I click on a blog and find a joke I'm familiar with.

Ditto with blogs that I struggle to understand because of grammar and punctuation. Ditto with 'pitiful me' blogs. Ditto with blogs that use obscenities (or the censor-edited versions thereof). There are some things I just don't care to read. So I don't.

I'm even ok with people repeatedly blogging about blog rules, and tags, and respect, and what-not. All it takes is a line or two (usually), and if I choose to read any further, I have no one to blame but myself.

Still, if you assume that some are motivated to repeat old jokes in order to be blog-famous, temporarily...would that hold true for those who repeatedly blog about blogging etiquette?

In any case...good luck with your cause. At least you're passionate about something, which is more than I can say for some people I encounter.

I remember a pleasant dates last year that filled with smile and laugher. you're a very decent gentleman. ,so kind and generous.

I can tell you I almost left this Md just because of some blogs bashing on copy/paste on and on like the old jokes you mentioned that kept playing on here.
One good thing jokes never harm anyone especially copy.paste but some original..personal jokes(can be regular blogs too). i found it bashing on the softs in offend ways.but only a few I have seen

No matter what ! you are what you blog in most cases ,am I wrong !

Suggest you read the rules

Check out the one below on jokes !

Then I suggest you skip any you don't like..

Hope all the rest of the world complies to everything

your heart desires.

Blog Rules (Yes, there are some rules.)

Do not "broadcast" messages to readers. Example: A blog saying hi to everyone.
Blogs that are "simply" of what you're seeking - this is what your profile is for.
Do not ask direct questions to readers. Blogs are not discussion forums. If you need advice or have a question, please use our dating forums where it's more appropriate.
You may not post any copyrighted material, unless you are the copyright holder.
If you post a joke you must tag it with "joke" and poems with "poem".
You may not post any private emails in whole or in partial.
You may not include user names in your subject.
Your blog can not "target" a specific user.
Do not post any personal contact infomation such as private email, phone numbers or addresses. These may be exchanged privately by email.

You're not serious... are you? I never saw that. Really, we are allowed to blog jokes?
Dude... you're shitting me... right?
C'mon, you just added that... it can't be possible, can it?
Like.... we're allowed to blog cut & paste jokes repeat old ones should we run out of jokes?
What a truly great place this is...

I seriously doubt that constant reminders about jokes etc. change anything since MD allows them. However, I would suspect that constant reminders can be an irritant to some.
For instance say a guy back in 2007 plagerized someone elses work. Should he be reminded every few days that he did? Or would he desire that at some point people just let it go so he is not a sore spot in the eye of newcommers?
Just my opinion.

From time immortal........ people shoot the messenger.

My son was in college and he saw 2 guys fighting. I forget if he knew them or not, but he went up and tried to ask them to break it up. They promptly turned and both of them started whupping on him.

moral...... people usually know when they are doing wrong and rather than feel remorse they just turn their anger & shame on the person who calls them out. (if they were capable of feeling remorse, they wouldn't do what they do in the first place)

But hey, the world would be a poorer place if nobody tilted at windmills.

Trinity... thanks for your comment. Yes, although MD allows joke blogs, they have refrained from enforcing the request to curtail cut & paste jokes as blogs.

I will say one 'cut & paster' has recently started writing real blogs. I cannot claim I was of influence to this.. but I'm happy to see the change.

We need more (real) blogs in the blog section.

Ohhhhhhh come on take a chill pill not everyone, acts, or thinks the same way. We are all different with different likes and desires. I don't think you will find people or posting jokes or cut and paste to be rude or irritate anyone. They find something they would like to share with others and they post it. MD has been very liberal on what they allow and that is what has drawn a lot of the members here. This is a great site and we all need to be tolerant of others. If you don't like the joke or posting ... ......................Don't read it.

I agree with Dallas and Mr. Paul. Not everyone enjoys the same things and we are much too old to be monitored. I can read, imagine that. As I read the blogging rules they seem to be very vague as far as content of blogs go. I'm not exactly sure of what "writing etiquette" is as mentioned by on poster to this blog. I do know that as of late I've read blogs that were profane and to some degree pornographic without any warning of what they contained. Yet, I never read one word from anyone complaing about the content of those blogs or asking that they be tagged as such. But, then again the rules don't require that they be. So why pray tell does a blog that makes someone laugh cause such a ruckuss? To be quite honest, your thought process escapes me.

I don't think people should blog jokes.

I also don't think a person should blog poems.

I don't like politcial blogs either.

Or blogs about what a bad day your having.

Or blogs about your snot monsters ruining the carpet.

Or how many dismal love affairs one had or can't have.

Or someone's pathetic feelings about the world..

Or how people hate you and how someone stopped them form becoming a brain surgeon.

Or how the badboys stopped some guy from shacking up with a Victoria's Secret model.

Or about fluffy, flowery crap and teddy bears..

I think blogs should be...er...

Well..how about blogs about what I hate about blogs?

(I also hate people who play Youtube songs..)

Frankly, I'm still wondering when MD is gonna come out with the new revised blog rules they've been promising for so long.
Of late, I've found less & less to read & enjoy here, myself. I'm hoping, again, it's just a cyclical thing the site is going through. Seems like a lot of bitter, yet holier than thou types around to me. Don't let the name calling bug ya, chat...(I know ya won't anyways)....I've been called a mod, a mod favorite & I've even been called the plagiarism nazi. Whatever.

You may not post any copyrighted material, unless you are the copyright holder

It says right there. You may NOT post any copyrighted material.

Well people in here came up with their own rule that it is ok to do so if you post who has the copyright. Who's rule it that? MDs? I don't see that anywhere in the MD rules.
The inmates are running the asylum, it is a joke...nasty, profane emails telling me I broke some rule?
And songs? People post who sang it, not the writer and some how that is OK? First off, the poster doesn't own the copy rights, 2nd, neither does the singer.

Why do people not stay or not join MD? Because it has become something other then a 'dating site'.

We need more (real) blogs in the blog section.
Chat may be single, but so many are not in the blog section and it has become a place to Blog, not a place to meet singles.
I say if you want more (real) blogs, go to a blogging site, not a dating site.
