But I never inhaled.

It seems odd that so many bloggers here offer excuses as to why they started blogging at Matchdoctor.

I would have to say initially, it's the 'open format' that lured them in. Many of the other blogging sites I've seen are 'slow moving diaries' to someones website/photo album/event calendar. Some offered no comments from the readers. You could e-mail the blogger and by chance they would acknowledge you in future blog entries. I've always thought that was boring.

Jokingly I mentioned blogging here is like a chatroom, only slower. At least it was that way before the one comment rule. Some blogs could rack-up 100 comments in a few hours. Still, the fast action of a message system remains intact. People come to blog and it's results are almost immediate. Blogs for the most part run their course quickly... Surely the one comment per blog lightened MD's e-mail load.

I would venture to say If MD revamped their format and add more columns to each members profile (like they did with videos, quizzes, shout-outs) with one for poems and one for jokes, then blogs would take on a different look. Guaranteed people would complain until they realize there won't be anything they can do about it... You know, like citizens and the Government.

Predicting what's next for MD would be more than next to impossible. The technical difficulties we were experiencing last week are nearly gone and the level of spammers is at an all time low... but so is the number of people online. Which surprises me because MD offers so much in a free dating/friendship community.

Actually, I never blogged in college. We didn't have PC's and internet available back then.

Thanks for the laugh!

BTW, after reading this blog, I am reminded that when MD first started having blogs, they were stand alone. There were no comments..only emails. Maybe everyone complaining about the one comment rule should remember that....I'm sure MD could go back to it.

how tempting.

btw, we needed a whole crew to monitor just the blogging area 24 hours a day when bloggers treated this section like out of control forums or a chatroom. further 'discussion' on a blog topic can always continue via emails, which often leads to new friendships or 'more' .

now we can concentrate on controlling scammers. during the game today we were able to track down one prolific lady who managed to send 2200 spam emails under 22 different profiles! eliminating 100-200 or more fakes every day may have made our numbers go down, but at least our membership is a lot happier about fewer scam mails.

I didn't even know what a blog was until I came to MD..... hey what can I say...

I think what got me started blogging was moving to Iowa, I had no friends, wasn't working yet, and house bound so much in the winter here, that blogging gave me an "outlet" , someone, Many someones, to communicate with. I wasn't so alone anymore.

Thank You MD
