**** The Good****
I awoke early Tuesday morning, opened the blinds, and looked out at the bird
feeder; a morning ritual of mine. I could not believe my eyes! ; There, feeding was a
Robin; ya know, the orange breasted bird,..... In these parts, as winter winds down, they are know as a messenger bird.... Upon spotting one,Their message is ' "Spring IS right around the corner!!!."......I have never seen one here this early (Feb 3rd) . Usually, it's in March when I spot my first Robin, in seasons past...never February ......And, ya know; I don't think it was a fluke. I seen him again today...grazing ...on the snow..
** The Bad**
I play cards on the weekend, (Texas hold'em) with same the a group of friends, and its a fun time. So how can this be bad?.....Well, let me tell you. I a met a Woman there who; ask me out to dinner, and I accepted. Why is this bad you ask? Welll, let me tell you. We went out to dinner together this past Wednesday....................... OMG!!!......When just the two of us were together at dinner. I discovered we had little in common to talk about, unless it was cards! Needless to say it was a bore. .......No biggie; I thought to myself , we'll eat and call it a early night. Not so much!!!.........Miss "talk about cards way too much." Also, like to drink way, way to much! I became her baby sitter, and trying to get her out of the bar, and home safely was..well, let me just say...SUCKED!.... And, yepper you guessed it. She will be playing cards this weekend, So in hind site maybe it's a good thing; The Ugly happened today, because I have a feeling I will not be playing.....
*** The Ugly ***
Today, was a beautiful day Sunny 48 degrees, lite jacket weather! yum yum day, you know.....So, once I finished with my last client of the day; I was eager to get out into the gorgeous sunshine. I looked at the dogs ( two 12 pound Mini Pins, brother and sister) and I could see, and sense their desire to go out as well.. I quickly leashed them, and off for our exploration of the neighborhood we went...........We only had gone maybe a 1/4 of a mile when, out of my prevail vision, I see a black figure approaching us at a rapid!! run........OMG!! It was a 100 pound Rottweiler !!.......His owner had forgot and left his fence gate open!!
The Rottweiler attacked Diesel (my male Minni Pin) first. I was trying to control my dogs by their leashes, but once he had Diesel by the throat with his huge mouth, I was concerned he would rip his throat open. So as much as I hated to , I just started kicking the Rottweiler in the head. The Rottweiler retreated off of Diesel thank god!..But before I could brethe a breath of relieve. The Rott was on Daisy (female Mini Pin) and had her by the throat shakeing her like a rag doll!....Oh Dam!!! this looks bad, I thought, I was sure he had ripped her jugular.........The next thing I know I'm on the ground laying in mud, snow and water, shoving my hand in between the Rotts mouth ,and Daisys throat;trying to dislodge the Rotts grip on her throat, I could feel the teeth of the dog penetrating my flesh, but In stints, and adrenaline had kicked in and this Rott was not going to kill Daisy ...By this time, "finally" two of the Rotts owners came and were bear hugging it from behind, wrestling it away.......................Jesus. I hate violence!
.....When all was said and done. My dogs are unbelievably ok. Few cuts but nothing that required a Vets attention Thank God However, now Daisy is afraid of me,it's as if she thinks I did it, and this makes me sad.. geeeze! dogs!!.......Me, I have six bites about my hand, nothing I need to go to the Dr.about.Thank goodness for good pain meds. Oh yea... thankfully the Rott is current on all his shots. ....I'm thinking the weekend has to be better, Have a good weekend, and remember keep those gates closed......................

Interesting story on the robins, hof. I have to tell you, I've been seeing flocks of them out in my yard for 2 weeks now! Spring is on the way....hof says the robins say so!
As for the card player....I'd chalk it up...go play cards & not allow myself to get "caught up" in a situation with that gal again!
As for the dogs, though...I am so sorry this happened. It sounds horrible. I understand Daisy being scared now, but hopefully you can work with her & fix that problem real soon. Your neighbors dog is a different story though...if it were me, I am sorry to say I'd be calling animal control, the cops or somebody. Those people need to be held responsible for their animal.

Wow Hof,,,,,,first ,,,,,,,,send the Robins to Southern IL, if the saying is true, i'll take them no matter what color their breast is,,,,,I just want Spring to come soon..
As for the card playing,,,,,ahh, just go and BLUFF your way out of things if she ask ya out again......hehehehe,,, just don't Fold...
as for your Daisy,,, I have been watching the tv show, Dog Whisperer,,,, so maybe you can contact Cesar Millan,,,,, after you explain the encounter and what happen to Daisy, and how she now reacts to you,,,,,,,he might be able to help her recover from the Shock. That would have to be very traumatic for any animal to go through....I myself am afraid of almost all dogs,,, so Big dogs coming at a full run, well lets just say, HELP..
.ahh Hof on the subject of you rolling around on the muddy , wet , snow covered ground,,,,,DID ya happen to snap a picture,,,,, just curious.......lol
on a serious note, make sure you keep hand clean and medicated..... I hope it heals ok..... for you..... for saving your mini pins

Thanx for the posting Blues. What is that?
I've never seen a Robin that looks like that here in Indy. the ones here are twice the size, and their breasts are not as vibrant. If I knew how to post a picture here, I would.
psst..If you know a Robin, with a vibrant breast, that wants to relocate to Indy, by all means have the chick contact me

***Blueschick responding comment via email.---> I do believe that it takes a gold membership to post pics. But you can do links to Youtube by using the BBC ( I think they are BBc codes) you find them under help and the directions walk you through it. Then just click on preview to see if it's gonna come out right.
As far as chicks with vibrant breasts you're out of luck. We got small and perky and large and droopy but we're all out of vibrant
Now that is funny Blue c ! !
* I do miss the good natured banter, and fun of " the old days when more than one comment was allowed per person on a blog "
Ahhh, but I do have options; I see on adult MD, folks comment, and chat away, anyone interested

you are just looking for someone to smooch that boo boo, I know you... .
And Hof....Rotties just like to play...one had my daughter's head in it's mouth when she was a toddler. The "owner" had allowed some bozo friend of theirs who could not handle the damn thing take it for a walk. It saw us on the playground....tore off towards my 2ft daughter and tackled her. My daughter had been running several feet in front of me, 100 years later when I got to her she was giggling as the dog had her pinned to the ground. I lost 10 years from my life that day! Glad you guys are not physically harmed...your Min Pin will probably forgive you soon...just get her favorite treat and look her in the eye and say..."look, babe...I did not bite you" give her the treat and all will be forgiven! (You might have to buy her a diamond studded collar but she'll come around)
Card player...No comment, no comment, no comment, no comment, no comment, I will keep my mouth SHUT, SHUT, SHUT, oh yes I will.
Robin Red Breast......you just like to say Robin Red Breast and wonder what porn she stared in....yeah...you thought I wouldn't catch that didn't you....um huh.
It is so good to be back.....I've missed you!

Wow! Intense, that ugly!
We have a wee doggy that, before the fence was up, got attacked by coyotes in our front yard. I had to run out there, with nothing but a broom, no shoes, in the pitch black, to try to fight dark grey coyotes off of our little black dog.
It worked, enough to get them away from him and us both in the house relatively unharmed, but, he did the same thing - kind of got scared of me.
It's been years now, and he's still acting that way, a little bit; but, it's alright because I've come to realize that he now kind of considers me the leader of his pack , since I defended him, and it's not fear of me attacking him, it's just deference. I'm the one who can make the dogs go outside when it's our dinnertime, just by telling them to now. With other people, they run and hide, have to be cajoled. With me, they snap to attention and do as they are told- which was not the case before the attack.
The point being that, even though it sucks for now, your little dog will probably get over it and come around to trusting you again, too, and maybe even more than before.
