I have to brag - it's my right. I am now Grandma for the third time. After 9 years of waiting, my oldest son finally had another child. IT'S A GIRL! Now I have one granddaughter 19 years old, a grandson 9 years old, and a newborn. BTW, they're all by the same son!! Yes, he really spread them out over years.
The newborn came yesterday weighing in at 7 lbs 12 oz. and is 20" long. The nurses say she has a temper! (at such a young age?) She was born with some problems though. She has a heart murmur and is breathing way too fast. However, after praying for her all night long - today the heart murmur is almost gone, and no need for oxygen anymore. She remains in intensive care though.
I was able to visit her today. OMG I cannot recall how little those fingers and toes are. She took her first bottle reluctantly. Apparently she needs more practice. She had to be fed thru an I.V. the past 24 hrs. My son almost cried as he watched them prick her tiny fingers yesterday - a big macho guy like himself who just returned from Kuwait last year. That shows he really has a heart.
My grandson went to the head nurse last night and asked if he could stay overnight because his "sissy is sick and may need him". The nurse gave him a lecture on being good, and he was allowed to stay overnight in his mom's room one night only. There were no problems. He slept on a rollaway bed brought in for him and his dad. My son said it was one of those everybody rolls to the middle automatically, but they were content to all be together.
Anyway, my daughter-in-law is doing fine. She was hurrying from the prenatal intensive care unit down the hallway to her room so she couldn't miss her pain pill!! Baby was born c-section. All are recovering well as can be expected.
Will try to post pics of the new baby as soon as I receive them.
