Lot's of suppositions in your blog -- including that the homeless don't work. Problem is, many do.
According to the National Coalition for the homeless:
The homeless population is diverse: 22 percent of the homeless in urban areas work; 38 percent are families with children; 25 percent are children; 20 to 25 percent have a mentally illness; approximately 30 percent are drug or alcohol dependent; and 40 percent of homeless males are veterans. Indeed, the veterans of the Afghan and Iraq wars are swelling the ranks of the homeless. Many were not regular Army, but National Guard and many lost their jobs and homes while deployed. As many of these men and women suffer from concussive brain injury, their disability is not necessarily noticeable to the naked eye, but may interfere with cognitive ability, while others have PTSD and many have both.
