Yeah, you can even call me loopy! I realize some of you probably call me that already anyway.
This past Thursday my precious baby niece that I keep minimum 3 days a week became sick with a rapid onset high fever. I notified her mommy & administered some tylenol. Once she went home, she went to bed, only to awaken later with worse symptoms. She was taken to the ER, where they took some x-rays, gave her fluids & sent her home with a script for an antibiotic.
They couldn't get in to see the pediatrician until Friday afternoon. As soon as he saw her, he said she had to be admitted. She was seriously dehydrated & sick.
Needless to say, as close as I am to both the baby & her mommy, I spent the majority of my weekend at the hospital with them. I don't care who you are or what the problem is, when you spend hours on end in the hospital like that with someone, you tend to lose track of time...and in my case become exhausted.
Elizabeth was kept on fluids, antibiotics & her temp was closely monitored in an attempt to keep it under 101 degrees. Fortunately, her condition began to improve early Saturday evening. Sunday morning, I received a call that she wanted hashbrown casserole from Cracker Barrel. You can bet that in short order, I was on my way to pick that up & deliver it to her. Upon arrival, I found my princess sitting up in bed with her color returning to her face....and even a little smile for her Sissy (that's what she calls me).
I am happy to say that she continued to improve throughout the day & the doctor discharged her late Sunday afternoon. Today, she is well rested from her first night back home & still recuperating. Tuesday morning, she will visit the doctor early & hopefully return to school.
I appreciate the kind, caring thoughts & communication from those here who were aware of Elizabeth's illness. Anyone who knows me is aware I never had children of my on and that I couldn't love this precious child anymore had I actually birthed her myself.
Herein lies a story about something that really counts. I don't care if people don't want to read my blog about what went on in my life this weekend. It matters only to me. My only point in posting this is to say....get over the pettiness people. Put your time & effort into what really counts.

I didn't know your niece was sick.... and so glad she's better. Did they say what the illness was? A virus going around? My doc told me this morning there is a new flu strain coming around here so I got the flu shot....
And your blogs are always worth reading..... skip the pettiness

Put your time & effort into what really counts Amen!-The line between the web and real life can seem very thin at times.
I mean, who is really there in person when the need arises?

Ah, Miss.... I am glad that your Elizabeth is doing so much better. I am outta the loop when it comes to things also, so I usually miss quite a bit... but I hear the love in the words here and it is wonderful that she is feeling so much better.
You are most correct, this is just the internet, yet people make it as though everything that happens here is real life drama... thanks for the reminder of what is important.

Thank you all so very much for your kind comments.
Elizabeth saw the doctor this morning & he recommended one more day of rest at home for her & her mommy. As Wednesday is an early release day, this will be a good first day back to get back in the groove.
Big hugs to you all, M

When my son was 19 months old he had a quick onset of a fever and vomiting. Within 5 hours he was hospitalized for dehydration. Hooked up to IV's and looking so pale and small.
Fevers are nothing to mess with when kids are young.
So glad that your little "E" is better.

I'm so glad to hear your niece is better. I like kids too never having had any of my own either. Why I enjoy holding the babies when I go to visit my bf's family or playing with the toddlers. That must have been quite a scare 'though, just glad she pulled through ok.
