My youngest son came to visit recently, and the discussion of my looks came up. He was giving his thoughts on how old women should look. Now my son has this hang up about what is considered "old". He thinks I'm ancient apparently, but in my opinion, you're only as old as you feel. Age should not be a factor when a woman prepares to meet the public!
It isn't that I try to show myself as being a youngster. I am trying to decide whether seniors should wear long hair down past their shoulders, especially since my hair is platinum. My son feels I have to keep it no longer than to the shoulders, as that's the limit for old people. Anyway, he says I have "old hair"! Now I asked him to define "old hair" since mine appears shiny and silver. He said old hair is when it's an old person (which you know dates back to the dinosaurs, right?). Apparently he didn't mean it as being something dry and brittle but puts it in perspective with a senior's age.
I have my own opinion as to senior hairstyles. In the nursing homes you always see women wearing very short and curly perms. I'm sorry, this isn't my style! It's good for those women who cannot bend to style their hair, and have trouble holding the dryers and curling irons. I'm not that type though. No, my son did not want me to become what he refers to as a "blue haired lady" but he doesn't want me to present myself as being vibrant in my style.
A few years ago he was commenting about my eye shadow - now it's my hair! I guess every son wants his mom to look good, but mine just does not get the full picture. I guess when he becomes my age someday, he'll understand me better.

My mom will shortly be 75 years old. Her hair is long, past her shoulders, & straight. I remember the day when she did keep it cut short & in a curly perm...I did not care for that look at all. Now that it's long, she puts it up & it looks very nice on her.

K...kids don't understand, I look at thing's that are happenig in the world.. in disbelief but I never ask why, because I already know.....my granny is the most beautiful woman in the world....she has silver hair, and taught me to be a hoer...she put a hoe in my hand when I was 6 and I followed and imitated what she did and still do.
Every person is beautiful in their own way.
Thanks for sharing, this song is dedicated to you.

I have long hair....my last boyfriend liked long hair....I don't like "lil ole lady short hair" thus I don't have it...anymore...lol Straight long hair is so much easier to care for...wash and dry naturally..or can blow dry if wanted....The color of the hair frames the face different than the length of hair..so each is different...besides...as men lose theirs...we should compensate...lol

I think we should all do what we want with our own hair. Hmmmm.... now if I could just find mine.
Seriously, do whatever makes you happy. If you try to dress, wear your hair, and/or act as sombody else wants, then you will just become very unhappy and most people will never get to know the real you. And that is the real tradgedy.

Many women get more pretty the older they get. I think you have lived long enough to wear your hair the way you want it ! The more power to you. Good luck with everything in life.

I have had long hair my whole life and can't imagine cutting it. I have also been told many times that my hair is pretty even though I am older. I don't think anyone should have to wear their hair because of how someone else thinks. They should wear it for themselves. Even if someone's hair is long and not that beautiful, if they want it long, that's their choice and no one has the right to tell them otherwise. Take care Lost
