Received this link from a railroad buddy of mine. It was taken from one of Union Pacific Railroad's rail yards in California. The economy is so bad right now that the U.P. has literally about a mile & a half of locomotives stored. Granted a handful of these are being retired, or sold, but most are stored just because there's no need for them right now. Here in Wisconsin @ U.P.'s South Janesville yard it's much of the same, with another string of about 3/4 of a mile of locomotives being stored. That calculates to millions of horsepower.

5.5" of snow fell today, much to the despair of many who are very much ready for Spring up this way.

the trains will soon be rolling again.,it is the most cost affective way to ship things..slower but..profit margins will be watched closely.,there is a new industrial park planned for our area.,close to the river.,300 acres so far.,the tracks run along the river.,they have plans for putting in rail spurs at every new site.,seems that the planners are getting smart around here.,(maybe).,just a matter of time.,not too much i hope
