She just took off her clothes, and dove over the rail into the river, sliding deep down into the dark water.

Our first date was an afternoon of sailing up the river. I had described sailing as an ideal first date in my profile, and forgotten it, but she reminded me when she first came to meet me, and I kept my word. A nice following wind took us several miles up the Apalachicola river. and I anchored near a sandbar that had a spectacular bog of wild irises in bloom behind it. I was lowering the dingy to go ashore when I heard a big splash. I looked behind me, and she was gone !

When her head surfaced, her neatly brushed hair was clinging wetly to her head, the little makeup she had worn was washed away, and her pretty clothes were still in a little pile on the seat. But her eyes were gleaming with the exhilaration of the cold water, and she had a big, childlike smile that took my heart away. I was a goner, and eleven years later I still am.

What I saw was an enthusiasm for life, a willingness to take a risk, a love of the water and the outdoors, and a glow that said she loves life.

It is the kind of beauty that does not wash off.

Absolutely beautiful, ttom. It's a positive thing to remember why we were attracted to another, and just as important for the other to remember what it was that attracted us to them. Maybe relationships would last a lifetime.

Great write!

Am I the ONLY one who's gonna ask about the SECOND date? Or, were there more dates after THAT?

Sincerely,

KK

There was/is only one date KKitten.

It started eleven years ago in the manner mentioned, and is still in progress. As my profile says my idea of an ideal first date is one that lasts a lifetime !
