Last night I went to the Dixon Rotary Club crab feed with a big group of friends from work. After the crab feeding frenzy was over, the band got on stage and started rocking the hall. The floor was filled with dancers grooving to old songs like “Mustang Sally” (on of my dance favs) and the like… songs that had the floor filled with dancers. Then a slow song came on and the floor cleared except for a few couples. The next song was a fast one and the floor filled again.
I couldn’t help looking around to puzzle it out.. it was mostly women dancing so I started looking at the people left sitting at the tables and could see some guys sitting but they mostly had a lady sitting by them. There were a few guys sitting solo but by the number of women dancing it could be their partner was on the floor.
Here’s what I kept wondering, where are all the single guys and why aren’t you out dancing too?
I can’t think of anything I like more than to have a guy MY guy dancing and flirting with me out on the dance floor. So where are all you… guys who like to dance and how to we find one another?

To answer your question you have to go back in time.

Most men only dance as a prelude to war, the hunt or sex.

Since there were no one to maim, no game and the prospect of sex was negliable, they sat this one out.

lol You should come to one of my shows where I start asking the guys why they aren't up dancing with all of the beautiful women on the dance floor. A few references to sexual orientation usually gets a few on their feet.

Sad to say dance is not so popular anymore, so guys never learn how. Check around in your area for a swing dance group that gives some free lessons, and tell the guys they have to be a real man to do that! You will be surprized at the difference in a guy when he actually knows how to dance, and no longer feels awkward on the dance floor.

That is another thing that has drawn me to the south especially Tennessee, men here Dance! The floor is packed and most dance very well. They mix the music at the place I go to so there is Country mixed with Rock so there is something for everyone and all ages go there, everyone has a great time. They have a dance called: The barn dance. It's where couples line up all around the floor, ya do some sorta turn, swing, kick, thing and pass the woman off to the next guy while you get the next lady, by the time the song is over, you have danced with something like 50 women in just this one song. It's a fun dance to get to meet people and if you were shy or wanted to meet someone, you can ask for another dance later. They usually play two songs in a row so you can meet up with the same woman at least twice in case you were too shy the first time around lol. Take care Lost

You would be surprised at the number of men who do not know how to dance. I don't mean just getting on the floor and moving, but really dancing. I like dancing what a lot of folks refer to as ball room dancing, but only because of my Civil War reenacting. However, couples dancing is very romantic and I beleive a lot more fun than the quick, jumping around type of dancing done today.

Oh, I forgot to mention I am not a good dancer. But, I am willing to learn.

What you described sounds a lot like your first dance in school. The girls get up and dance while the guys just sit on the side lines.

Anyway, starting to ramble here ... but these are my thoughts.

Let's go dancing!
