Most of us have dealt with the Nigerian Scammers, and it is bad enough there for Nigeria to be touted as the internet scam capital of the world. The Russian Bride Scam has been going on a long time, in fact it was Russian scammers that developed the auto response email system that so many corporations use today. I saw someone saying that all Chinese women are scammers, the Filipinos, and so on. It's easy to judge all people of a nation when you only have limited contact with them, and you end up being scammed by someone. Most people here in the US don't think that we have people doing the same thing right here.
Utah is one of the biggest areas that internet scammers operate out of here, but where ever there is an internet connection, there are scammers! Regardless of people saying that the US is despised around the world, many people still look at us as being the honest ones, so they are easily scammed by someone contacting them saying they are from the US.
Nobody likes losing money through fraud, but that $1000 may very well be a person in another countries life savings, or a years income. We do it all, the money scams, the job scams, bringing people for jobs, where they are sold into slavery, and treated less than human, and even selling them off as sex slaves here, and abroad.
The US is not innocent, just like everywhere else, we have some bad people who will do whatever it takes to get that easy money. We just don't get too many scams from our own people, so we are unaware of how much it really does go on! Like they say "If it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't!"
Oh btw, I do have a couple of bridges to sell if anyone is interested?

Good blog and so true. Most people in the US overlook, there's as many American scammers as any where else in the world. I've said it before and been criticized for it but I'll say it again, let trust be earned....don't jeopardize your life, or your families life for anyone, or any reason.

Hooks, you're right on. It also never ceases to amaze me how many of our legislators and big business people are scammers. I used to believe they, and law enforcement and medical people were all honest and could be trusted. Nowadays, I guess, regardless of what a person does for a living, if they dishonest, they're dishonest and we all have to keep our eyes and ears open.
I must admit, though, that I, personally, don't come into contact with many of them...except on the internet. Most people are honest and trustworthy.
Sincerely,
KK

I have met...on this and other dating sites, scammers pretending to be a contractor from the states working in Africa and need help with they're 6 yr old daughter because she is sick...."could you please send some money to make her better??" I ask why dont you since you have a job and I dont? They always have a way in and out and to someone inexperienced, sounds innocent and logical But I have found, that every time it has happened to me, they type with am accent ..if that makes any sense to you
