Dear Mr. President:
So happy am I to still have a job, that I didn't once complain when I learned I would have to work this past Saturday. I don't normally work weekends, and even though I considered it yet another act of the man "keeping me down", I did my duty like a good American. This left me with a shortened weekend. Instead of the two-day Rogfest I usually enjoy, I had but 39 hours, thought I, from the time I left work Saturday until I was to return Monday. But I had not considered the fact that I was to set the clock up an hour Saturday night after midnight. Although I was exhausted from working all day, I stayed up until 2:00am to set the clock up an hour like a good American. I then realized I would not have a 39-hour weekend but rather a mere 38-hour weekend.
Mr. President: It is time to change the way we change the time.
For far too long, working Americans have had to sacrifice an hour of weekend each and every year. Surely we can do better. I realize this job is still new to you, but it's never too early to begin thinking about your legacy.
Mr. President, I believe you, by executive order, could and should change daylight savings time by requiring Americans to set their clocks up one hour on the second Monday in March at 2:00pm. This way, we working Americans can get paid for 8 hours of work while only performing 7. This "sticking it to the man" for an hour's wages isn't going to hurt the man, but will greatly raise the morale of the proletariat. With the stroke of a pen, you can change this inconvenient task to something of a national holiday. Yes you can!

I was once told changing time twice a year serves no purpose other than our leaders telling us we have to.....so whats up with that?...... ...cookie

Dear Mr. Magnet,
Thank you so much for your kind letter and informed request. In these troubled times, it will be the smart thinking Americans like yourself that will help us build a bridge to the future by finding solutions to America's problems with innovative and creative thinking.
As a country, we can no longer afford to sit by and watch the rich and privalaged classes exploit the hard working rank and file citizens that make our country work.
To that end, I want you to know that I am going to issue an executive order to have all employers gift their employees the one hour of time lost this past week with the forwarding of the clocks. To make sure that all Americans get to benefit from this, even those who are self employed, or work on salary, or who don't have a job, we are going to set up a fund with 1/2 of the gift money currently being stolen from you by the rich and greedy compaines.
You will receive half of your one hour's pay, and the other half will go into the fund to be used for job creation and ecconomic stimulus which our country so desperately needs.
I want to personallly thank you for helping us find this new revenue stream, so that we can help make America the country I know it can be.
Sincerely,
President Obama
PS. You still owe us taxes on your 1/2 of the gift money, and it will show up on your pay stub as US Obama gift, instead of under your regular hours where the US Department of Labor, Wage and Hour laws have demanded that this hour lost on the clock be put into your pay as it has been every year before now if you worked at the time when the clock changed.

Hmmmmmm. I go to work, stay busy, do a good job, hope my employer has reason to appreciate me, but that's just me. I kinda think the world would be a nice place to live if everyone was like that, though. I guess I don't know how to live.
