It seems unfair in some ways that we are limited in our capacity to brilliance but there seems no limit on how gullible people can be. I have been getting the same emails since 1999 when I first got my computer. I thought the Bill Gates and Microsoft email was history but I got it again just a few weeks ago.
Yesterday I got the one that said some judge in Florida declared April 1st (April Fool's Day) to be the holiday for atheists based on the Bible verse which says: "The fool in his heart hath said there is no God" I thought the story was amusing but I figured it was not true so I did a quick Google search on the words "Florida Judge Rules Atheist Holiday" Thousands of results popped up from Christians and Atheists alike praising or taunting the email so I sent the sender a quick email stating that I got a chuckle out of the story but that it was not true.
I really wish people would have the courtesy of asking me if I wish to be added to their group junk mail list before they add me to it but that seldom happens so I have to ask to be removed. Unfortunately no matter how politely I ask the sender usually ends me some hateful reply. With this in mind it is really scary to ask to be removed from the group junk mail/fwd items list of one of my kids or family members.
So I got a curt response from one of my kids today reacting to my comment about the Florida judge fictional episode. I would ask what other people do in this situation but I doubt it would change what I do. When I receive FALSE info from any sender I send a similar response. If that makes me a disagreable old grump SO BE IT!!!

I tell people twice that I don't open unsolicited forewards, and if they do it again, I block them. Eventually they ask why and I tell them. That usually solves the problem.
I got tired of rebooting my computer after unsupervised children of friends in my circle of aquaintence sent me viruses.

I get a regular mailing from SNOPES. It's a newsletter and usually covers all the untrue stuff being sent around.
When I get anything I already know is not true, I immediately let the sender know and ask them to look something up in SNOPES before sending it out. I also ask them to contact everyone to whom they sent the untrue info and to advise them.....giving them the address of SNOPES so THEY can check things out before they fill the information highway with unnecessary traffic.
Don't know whether or not they're upset with me, but these days I only get two or 3 pieces of junk like that a week.

The Bill gates email will still be fwd'd 100 years after Bill Gates is in his grave even if Microsoft goes belly up
The only two viruses I have gotten have come from Fwd emails which were sent by the address books of friends
If I subscribe to another newsletter I am defeating the whole purpose of unnecessary emails. Why buy the book when the Library is next door?

I used to get it too...  you are right people are soo gullible.......  to even think this could be possible...........after a few of them along with other emails that my friends would pass on to me......I ... just changed my email .....  ......and soo now I don't have to worry..........  at all.........when all else fails just change the email and your good to go........
