 It's happening... a fear of mine is coming true!! The dance at the Veterans of Foreign Wars is closing down their band and their dance. I have been going there every friday night for over a year.....dancing, making friends, and just having fun.
This friday will be the last one. The only other options for dancing in this town is the American Legion once a month, or the local truck stop. It just won't be the same......  Oh well there is "Legends" which has a bar and a dance hall, but it is all focused on people in their 20's, more than my age group. I "have" been there and shocked those people when they figured out that I "can" keep up!! LOL
I hope things get better as the VFW was not taking in enough on a friday night to even pay the band.........
I know its just a dance, and food, mortgage, and peoples medical needs are much more important, but to me.... this means the end of an era.... and it's very sad...

Oh, Sybil. I'm sorry to hear that. I know how much you always looked forward to going there on Fridays. You might make a few suggestions to them.......like perhaps trying it every other Friday.......or on a Saturday night.....or even on a Sunday afternoon. There's a place a few towns over from me who hold a dance on Sunday afternoons. I went there with a friend, but just a couple of times. Not really my forte'. I just can't get into the polka music yet for any length of period. 
I do hope things work out.......

yep and when a period of time that people need to be socializing too..it is even more difficult...hope there are not emotional repercussions along with these  financial repercusions to follow....

Sorry to hear that. I know, alot of places cater to the younger crowd. There is a sports bar near us, next town over patronized mostly by people in their early 20s. I went there a few times, there were only a few people my age.
Too bad people don't start clubs just for the 40+ crowd.
