The Silent Generation are people born before 1946.
- The Baby Boomers are people born between 1946 and 1959.
- Generation X are people born between 1960 and 1979..
- Generation Y are people born between 1980 and 1995.
Why do we call the last one generation Y?
I did not know, but a cartoonist explains it eloquently below...Learned something new today!
I can't show the cartoon since I'm not a gold member. It won't load, so I'll do my best to explain it to you.
Cartoon is a rear view of a young man with jeans hanging low on his hips. Butt crack exposed. Sort of like this... _y_ and that is why the last generation is called Y.

WHY is it that way?
WHY isn't it mY way?
WHY don't you take me seriously?
WHY do I have to go to college?
WHY can't I sponge off you until you die then live off the life insurance?
WHY do you believe in God?
WHY do you always say "God, give me patience"?
WHY do I have to be an upstanding moral human being and think of others before I always think of mYself?
I don't believe ALL of the generation Y think this way, but unfortunately most of the ones that do seem to be in my general area, lol.
