One of our residents passed away Sunday morn. Poor old guy had prostate cancer and had been failing fast since his wife passed a few months ago. They had a suite together. Separate beds, bathroom, and small livingroom with their recliners set up side by side. They were a very sweet couple. Been together many years.
Ted was very protective and maybe a little jealous when it came to his wife, Mary. He was always attentive to her needs. Became anxious if she wasn't near him, wanting to know where she was. If any males got to close or paid Mary some attention, he would puff out his chest, walk up with his cane and make his presence known. Ready to do battle for his woman.
They gave me hope that men and women actually can get along, love and take care of each other, live their lives into old age. Death is hard to deal with, but I'm glad they are no longer suffering. I'm sure Mary was waiting for him with open arms. Sad to see them go, but happy they are together again. God bless them both. The suffering has ended.
