Dancer & Don missed y’all. We have a little quiet time tonight and so thought we would post a little update. Yes, we know we owe a few of you some mail (and thanks), and so shall it happen soon. (Yeah, Fenderchick & Ms Lani!)
It’s been about seven straight months now, this total togetherness thing between Equuisdancer and I. By that I mean, except for a couple days around Christmas and a few days a couple weeks ago, it’s been a 24/7 togetherness thing. So much so, in fact, that even our families expect us to be together all the time now.
As an example, I visited my ancient mother a couple weeks ago when Dancer was home momentarily. My mother quickly inquired as to where Dancer was. When I said “she’s home,” my mother then asked why I did not bring her with me. “No, Ma . . . Her home, not my home.” That took care of that for the moment.
Of course, I had to spend the last month or so, except for a few days, at Dancer’s home and that was rather interesting -- to say the least. . .
Because of where her computers are set up (me being the primary user), I quickly became keeper of the revolving door for two cats and a dog. Then also add in three young grandkids and her daughter and you might guess that was a rather busy revolving door. Kids tend to leave doors open, even when it’s cold out. I broke them of that habit in about five minutes. Dog and cats wanted in and out anytime they could get in and out. They also quickly learned (with treats) there was a bit of decorum to be observed and stopped being so demanding.
Dancer has some sitting water in the back acres. She kept saying it was from all the rains. However, I noticed water bubbling up from the ground, which was rather interesting and I pointed it out to her. As it turns out, the local water table is just a few feet down and that is the cause of the large puddles developing.
So . . . we drove a pipe down a few feet. Sure enough, more water came up. Therefore, Dancer narrowed down the outside end of a shorter device we had in the ground and was able to get water to squirt up a few inches from time to time. Cute, eh?
Yeah, I even met most of the neighbors at a barn/bonfire gathering for a birthday the other night. One big neighbor guy acts a lot like Herb on the old “Cheers” TV program. The others are an unlikely bunch that varies between lawyers, CEO types and farmer, fishermen. It’s a friendly group, though, and I look forward to seeing some of them again. In fact, I have already made plans for a couple interesting summer projects with two of them.
Oh . . . and I’m told that I passed muster with Dancer’s best friend over 30+ years. Fancy that, eh?
All in all, it’s rather interesting on Dancer’s side of our state. We’ve been to some of the large sand dunes around Lake Michigan and saw some of the tourist attractions before the tourists get there. Now she’s trying to get me to drive her little arrest-me-red VW different places, even though I haven’t driven a stick shift street vehicle for nearly 40 years and never before drove a five speed. (My vehicle runs just fine!)
Why do I drive her car? Well, did y’all know that Dancer has a rather heavy foot? Also, she’s been known to kick up a little gravel, from time to time, by using the side of the road sometimes. Whereas, I tend to mind the speed limits (usually) and am never in a hurry. But, in her favor is the fact that her little red Bug does seem to want to go fast and I caught myself going a little fast once or twice, too. Actually, we almost set some sort of record when I drove it back to my side of the state; but that’s another story.
Yes, we’ve been gone from Matchdoctor for a while, but it’s been for good reason: We’ve found many things in life to keep us busy. There’s more of that coming up soon, too -- but that’s a happy story for yet another day.

We’re here on the Detroit side of Michigan for a few days -- enjoying the nice weather. Dancer already has a deep tan and I’m a little tan/red here and there.
Some of my stuff is being packed for the move to the other side of the state. Yeah, that will be happening this summer, as we plan.
And y’all never mind the comments from the gooseette, the gander was very proper and polite in his comments. Of course, that’s cause I kind of like her. . . .
