We all sabotage ourselves when we are uncertain and have not the support for our being which we so necessarily require! We are NOT an island unto ourselves....
God created man and saw it was NOT good for him to be alone...and thus He put him in a deep coma and created a COMPANION for him....as man named all the creatures, he named this new creature...called her WO MAN...because out of him she was created to be beside him and of him forever as they merged as one once more...but this time with knowledge of spirit and soul(emotion) and finally physically to become one as could not happen in any other way...but this last was the only way animals can merge....
This reflection came to me after listening to a sermon on marriage....and it was beautifully put! We are searching for someone...to become the whole we have been designed to become...this does NOT mean we are "half " and not a whole person...we are complete within our own being...but we were created to be more than an individual...but if the order of things in our lives are NOT done in the proper order...then the end result is NOT as successful as it could have been...and most often breaks apart because the sequence was incorrect...
It is almost a chemistry lesson of "being a human being"... 
If certain elements are not introduced in correct order...in cooking for example...then the results are not as they should be! Same with "merging of human receipe" to be all we can and were designed to be.....
We are seeking our "companion" but we often get the cart before the horse....The order it should be done is spiritual, emotional, then physical...
When the order comes as it should, everything "cooks" or "gels" and the chemistry is complete.....then the physical is the most beautiful and tasty icing on the cake of which one never dreamed it could be....
Many long lived marriages of the past knew this receipe......

As far as long marriages...i think youre talking a diffrent generation of people here....i think people were more commited then....and they wanted to stay together.....I was just talking to my 19 year old daughter at breakfast the other day about her generation growing up with so much divorce.....she wanted to know why young guys are just after the bootie and not want to date other than to get what they want and to move on to the next.....being a single parent....ive always wanted to know what kind of generation we are raising here....i guess the story has not been written yet........cookie

I loved this Fran!! Kudos to you! I also happen to totally agree. IF people DID follow that recipe, instead of putting so much effort and attention on "sex" only, I know that there would be more relationships that work!
When all the dust clears and the sex becomes comfortable, there HAS to be a lot more to the relationship to keep it glued together!! If not, then it falls apart! It's actually very simple!!!
