FEELING SOMETHING

A mosquito sank it's needle
into my eye
and I smiled.
On the street feeling something
anything
brings hope.

Standing hunched on the corner
I spot a cigarette butt
grab it quickly
and greedily smoke it
like a cuban cigar.

People walk by
they don't see me
as I trudge back to the shelter
like a ghost to a cave.
I pray for mercy from the stinking socks
Morning comes too soon
everyone up and out
to begin the endless search
for butts,change,and with luck
another mosquito.

Wow, Borty! This is really good. It's very sad when you think about some of the people who go through a part of their lives without recognition.....without somebody to care about them.....those who feel numb from the inside out.....who only feel pain and suffering.....and actually look forward to it...because it makes them feel alive. I have to add this, though. It's a little ironic and also very sad that even for those of us who have shelter from the harshest of elements and food on our tables......sometimes wish we could have a temporary numbness to help dull the pain of heartbreak, etc.

Excellent write, Borty! Well worth the kudo that I will give to you as soon as I get another...........

Poem I wrote, inspired by a man at Walmart...

HOPE

I'm standing here,
Sad and alone,
I've lost my job,
I have no home.

My sign says, "Help, I'll
work for money,"
My family waits,
Cold and hungry.

I've been here hours,
For many days,
People won't look at me,
They turn away.

I've looked for work,
There isn't any,
Without an address,
They aren't hiring.

Maybe someone will stop today,
Give me a job,
So I can make some pay,
Feed my family and make their day.

All I need is a little help,
Not a handout,
Just some hope.

I really liked this. A world fortunately most of us will never experience

It's funny how people view homeless people as "trash"...
but the real "trash" lives inside the heart that won't give them a bite to eat!!!!
