Well, baby Lucky is still with us. I took baby to the vet today. Remember how the vet tech "thought" she was a girl? Well, the vet thinks she is a boy! But both have said they could be wrong! LOL
Anyway Lucky has spent the week with me at school. She/he's been on a pretty decent schedule except on Thursday. On Thursday Lucky wanted to be fed every 2 hours. That kind of got in the way of my teaching. The kids didn't care. We have a rule now, if they are finished with all their work, they can come on the carpet and watch me feed the kitten.
Lucky is getting strong and very feisty. I still think she's a girl! LOL Her eyes and ears are still closed but should be opening in a few days. She looks to have some siamese in her. She was weighed today and weighs 8 ounces, which is good for her size. She drinks about 6-8 ml of formula at each feeding. For some reason, she is urinating and defecating on her own in her bed. I still do the stimulating but if she doesn't go right then, she will later as she sleeps. I have to wash her towels and bed every night! I'm planning to get another bed so I have a replacement ready to put in the cage when I'm washing the other one.
I had to put cardboard in front of the cage bars, as she's gotten her head stuck in the bars three times now! I try to pull her out and she keeps pushing forward! I'm so scared I'll hurt her. So I had to be creative and made a barrier in front of the bars. So far, so good!
The vet said she looks healthy and is extremely active when awake! That's a good sign. The vet told me to let her sleep until she wakes up hungry but now she's sleeping at least 6-8 hours and I worry when she doesn't wake up, so I wake her after 8 hours. She eats well.
I'm going on the MD camping trip in about a week and a friend at school has volunteered to "baby Lucky"-sit! While she's at work, her husband will take care of the baby at home. I hope she does well, but by then she'll be somewhat bigger and have her eyes open. I think it will be equivalent to the terrible two's with kids! I hope my friend is up to it! LOL
