The state of Montana just passed a bill where they will make their own guns and ammunition. It will be stamped and labeled and only sold in Montana therefore the state will enforce it's own laws to govern it and Federal laws do not apply to anyone purchasing it. Yeah Yeah, I know, sure they will know who is buying the guns and all, so don't get your skivies in a bunch. However, they won't be made to jump through hoops like they are trying for example to make one purchase gun insurance? What the heck is that, insurance for each gun you own, which is impossible and expensive to get like they are trying to pass in the state of Illinois? There isn't an insurance company that handles this type of insurance at this time yet btw. If you don't have the insurance if that bill gets passed and your gun is registered, they will come and collect your guns, so be ready. Will you soon have to get insurance for the 1st Amendment if you shoot off your mouth for freedom of speech?
Anyways, this is big, real big. If Montana, Utah, and Texas follow through with this plan, each state will be making their own guns and ammunition and those that wish to purchase them can do it to protect their families with no worry about the Federal Government and all their restrictions about taking away their 2nd. Amendment Rights. Each state will know where each gun will be going, so they will be registered, that isn't the problem here, this law is for the average citizen whose rights are being taken away. I understand for those of you who are against guns for gangs and criminals, but there are still hunters and those who wish to have them against thieves and people who are criminals and we still have rights to protect our families.

It looks like the criminals don't want home owners to be able to protect themselves, the criminals in Washington DC, that is.

It's a shame that people have to go through all of this BS, just because some liberal losers want to force there personal beliefs on everyone! The State gun thing is fine, but what about when a person wants to get in there car and travel? They have to be subjected to the laws of every state that they enter. They should just have a federal gun permit that allows carry in any state.

You are talking about a best case situation, Joe.

Disarming the population was an early tactic of Stalin, Hitler, and many other dictators. Is it one of the Dems' opening gambits to dragging us into world government, or some other form of despotism.

You anti gunners, the pro gunners rightsare the target now, Do you really think they will stop there?

If you haven't joined yet, the NRA needs your support, both economic, and having yet another American who backs their attempts to preserve freedoms, all freedoms, not just gun rights. You can join online. Do it now !

Relax people, none of this will ever happen. Nobody's going to take your guns already. People who propose gun control laws don't get reelected.

Lets just hope that bill doesn't pass where you are required to have insurance to own a gun, one part on the policy is: Reckless firing of a firearm, which is impossible at this time to obtain. There isn't any insurance company in TN that has it that I know of. The bill has started in Illinois like I said and is still pending as far as I know. If it passes, all who are registered gun owners will be contacted to get insurance, if you do not have it, you will be required to turn your guns in, that is a fact according to a program that was on tv by Glen Beck. You might be able to research this yourself by going on his website and go into the archives. Or you might be able to find something out about this bill and what it means. Don't take my word for it, check it out yourself. Either way, do you think you will be able to keep your guns if you don't carry that insurance once this bill passes? Think about it? Lost

I am going to Montana this summer...my best friend lives out there and we happen to share a granddaughter.

...Anyway...they need them for protection of some of the wild animals...twice they had pets attacked by some wild animal in the last 2 years...she raises miniature horses and some sort of large bird air lifted a new born baby over the fence and just a few weeks ago they had a coyote attack one of their little dogs. Both will live...but the vet bills are quite high I am sure.

I'll have to ask her what she thinks about this bill....

I can't stand the thought of not being able to hunt with my rocket launcher and 30 cal machine gun. I wonder what the meaning is of all this? The financial crooks just launched an attack and won without firing a shot. They picked your pockets clean, took away your retirement and so....who cares about the 2nd amendment? You don't need guns to win anymore.

Nice thought, but not a chance of being enforceable.

The Constitution supersedes any state or local law...period. When states agreed to be part of the United States, they agreed to that rule. A state cannot pass a law that overrides the Constitution.

There is nothing in the Constitution that exempts a state from the second amendment based on where guns or ammunition are manufactured. That's just silly.

A state cannot "take back" any part of the Constitution. They are subject to every part of it.

My take on the laws being presented by the Anti-Gun Lobby..are so lopsided that
they only attack the "legit" gun owner/user. NOWHERE, do we see the loudmouth politicians, insisting on #1. Enforcing the Laws currently on the Books,
#2. Making the usage of a gun in a criminal environment a class X felony..meaning
you go straight to jail..for years..NOT Days !!..and #3..this is the most important..

Its way overdue, and about time...that the States of America, collectively pass
legislation to : "SUE JUDGES FOR MALPRACTICE"

Make the offenders pay hugh prices for using a gun in commission of a crime..
and lastly..eliminate any liability for a homeowner defending his dwelling and possessions with a gun..regardless of the outcome

Everyone should like this one: At my last Sportsman Club meeting, the topic was
raised about shooting a intruder whilst in your home illegally. One suggestion that
brought the house down..was.."Just shoot the bastard"..forget calling the Police
because they're worthless after the crime anyway..and just hav your buddies take
the corpse..to the nearest dumpster and make a deposit.....case closed.

First, Mission comment is spot on.

This is a crazy law and do they really believe criminals will reg their guns and buy gov't bullets.

I am not crazy about guns, but once they take that right away, then the next target will be much easier to accomplish, the "freedom of speech".

If states are taking a stand on this issue and passing bills this early in this Presidency you can bet they know something we don't. Montana has already passed this bill, it's not pending. It has something to do with interstate commerce or something, and according to the Governor, they "are not" subject to Federal Regulations in this gun law and can make their own laws if they sell only in Montana. Now I don't think he'd come on National TV and lie about this. All three Governors were on TV saying the same thing, and I don't claim to be as smart as those Governors who have assistance with their lawyers, but I'm sure they know what they are talking about when they say, they are not under any Federal Regulations. Perhaps you can check out the Glen Beck website on this or Montana websites, but what I'm saying is true, this bill isn't just in the works in Montana, it's a done deal. Thanks to all who have commented and kept this debate civil, I know it's a touchy subject Take care Lost

That's a joke. A politician not lying?

Glen Beck is a moron. If you want proof I can send you a lot on him.

All I know Mission is all three Governors were on his show at the same time, and these words didn't come from Glen Beck, they came from the Governors. These bills that passed were not fakes they are real also, so they can be checked into and have been verified. Of course we know politicians lie, look what's going on in Congress today, Nancy Pelosi just got caught bigtime along with her cronies. Take care Lost

When governments come up with these new ideas there is usually unseen motives, usually financial ones. It's yet to be seen the real reason why they want to do this. its all smoke and mirrors with polititians, theyre all out to line thier own nests..

A couple of additional thoughts.

Gun laws....We have strict laws about drug possession, and a whole mob of drug enforcement cops. Has that stopped the drug problem? How would anti gun laws be different?

Who is bankrolling the antigun drive?

Pot is cheaper to grow than alfalfa, which can be bought in bales for 5 cents a pound. Who makes money keeping it illegal, running the price up to 125 an ounce. Antidrug cops with jobs controlling it. Criminals selling $125 ounces instead of 5 cent pounds. Alcoholic beverage producers who can't compete with homegrown pot. In short, people making huge bucks off illegal drugs being illegal want them to stay illegal.

Who wants to disarm US citizens? Armed criminals, who want no resistance from victims. Illegal gun selllers, who will watch the value of their goods soar, like during the previous bans. Any parties who want Americans to be docile sheep, unable to offer resistance to additional loss of rights, clear to the killing fields.

The real figures show armed citizens reduce crime, as seen with the Australian gun ban, where crime greatly increased, and numerous other studies.

For gangs and criminals, the cat is out of the bag. They already have firearms and will not turn them in. International gun brokers supply anyone with money, within or without the law. There are hundreds of millions of existing guns, many of which will never be surrendered, Have you ever seen a gun thrown on a trash heap? No, they are, and have been, stored away. With existing gun laws weakly or not enforced, what would bd different with new gun laws. It is the illegal USE of guns that is the problem, and not their existance. Enforcing existing laws on that USE will solve the problem.

Tennessee has just vetoed the Federal Gun regulations and has legislation to make and sell their own guns now along with Texas, Montana, and Utah according to today's news. I'm not sure what other states are following, but I've just heard this, so you can bet there are more to come. Take care Lost
