I have been working my butt off trying to get my floor finished before I have to be at my summertime job in another town. I like sitting around and enjoying the weather but this year is different as I have all my materials here waiting to be put together. And yet, things seem to be going like mollasses. I'm pretty sure it's just because I'm here alone trying to do everything myself.
It might be different if the people I'd hired over this past winter were here doing what they promised they'd do for me and I already paid them for their help. But know.....they had to get out of this place and move to another town to where they could rip someone else off. Well good riddence to them....so here I am, at home alone....staying busy working on my new house......not feeling misused....depressed....emotional....
It's great out here, nothing but sumshine (don't mind the sunburn, it'll heal...) animals coming out the gazzoo (moose, caribou, eagles, bunny rabbits, squirrels, hawks....) and my dog barking at everything that wanders through the yard...well, anyways she's kept busy too.
I'm in hopes my luck will change once I get my new house built as I haven't been able to find anyone willing to come visit for a day or two.
I know, 40 below zero in the middle of winter is a bit much for the city dweller but to enjoy each others company while you're here would've been nice. But alas, I'm here doing what ever it is I do just to keep my sanity. I'm ok now though, with summer two weeks away I'll once again be in the money.
I was once asked how I can put in so many hours at work? And my answer is, I know there's an end to my work schedule. I work 4-5 months out of the year and take the rest of the year off. I come home where I have everything paid for, (bought in advance as this is my 8th year) and kick back and enjoy what I've got.
I'm so far out that I dont' get any kind of reception and hafta rely on DVD/VHS movies for my entertainment. If that doesn't work I can then get out my PS 1 and play all those games I put away last year after getting my new laptop. If it wasn't for htis laptop I think I'd be playing those games.....
But that's old news, now as I've got to get this house done. This past winter I had to pack 8' logs up my hill to my room (I heat with firewood) and it was hell. I don't plan on doing that again this coming winter. Granted, it did cause me to loose a bunch of weight and build muscle and I shouldn't hurt as much as I did last year when I got back too work.
God, never get old and think you can just stop. I tried that the year before and it just about killed me. My body hurt so bad, I concidered going to the hospital to have some drugs prescribed for the aches and pains but put it off all summer and just dealt with it. I did it to myself and I only have myself to blame.
We all seem to do this trial and error thing on ourselves. Me included.
I'm so heavy I had to change my diet, it helped some but it's not doing what I thought it would do? It seems to be hardest when I get back to work as my housing and meals are free. The meals are great and I eat like a pig but I'm trying not to be so piggish this year as I still need to drop some pounds.
This year is suppose to be busier than the past years as I've got a new company I've got to supply with boxes. I hope I can keep up as last year was kinda slow. I'm told to be ready and will be showing up three weeks in advance just in case the season starts earlier than expected.
Oh well, I think I've got it under control. But time will tell....

You sound like a very busy guy. I used to live in Maine so I know what 40 below zero feels like, yeh, a bit chilly lol.

Good luck with your home projects, we have some to do here in our condo. I'll be glad when they are all done then I can sit back and admire what we did. I'd like to put up crown molding, but....if we don't get around to that, no biggy. We still have to paint the bedroom and bathroom.

I like your idea, work 4-5 months, my guess, you take the winter months off? Smart man.

Yeh, I know what you mean, keeping in shape after a certain age seems like a losing battle, you feel every muscle in your body when you use muscles you haven't used in awhile. The exercise is good for you 'though so I try to keep that in mind lol.

Hope your day is going well. Take some time to relax.
