John Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6 am.
While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA )
was perking, he shaved with his
electric razor
(MADE IN HONG KONG )
He put on a dress shirt
(MADE IN SRI LANKA ),
designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE )
and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA)
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA )
he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO )
to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN )
to the radio (MADE IN INDIA )
he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY )
filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia )
and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his
Computer (made in MALAYSIA ),
John decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL ),
poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE )
and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA ),
and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA
AND NOW HE'S HOPING HE CAN GET HELP FROM A PRESIDENT
MADE IN KENYA

There's just one problem: John Smith did not outsource the jobs to China, Japan or anywhere else.
When the retailers decided to no longer buy American and stock their shelves with Chinese crap, John Smith had no voice in that decision. He did not see American products to purchase.
John Smith would have preferred to purchase an American made TV or computer but those jobs went to people in Asia who were paid $15.00 per week. He could do nothing about it.
Clothing is made in Bangladesh where kids are chained to sewing machines and paid 25 cents per hour. John Smith didn't have a thing to say about that either.
Nothing is manufactured in this nation any longer because huge profit margins are attained by producing goods in Asia. The decision not to manufacture products in the U.S. was made by corporate America, not John Smith.

John,
It all started with a book by Ralph Nader, in 1965 or so, called "Unsafe At Any Speed". He trashed the Corvair by Chevrolet. Chevy was trying to come up with a car that got great mileage like the Hondas and Datsuns that were being flooded into the country by the Japanese. Chevy never got the chance thanks to Mr. Nader.

And everyone who is under 40 should be crying,,, you are getting the bill.
It's all very simple really,,,, be shelfish and gutless now, and not say "no" to special interests and deficet spending (buying on credit), so we can be the savior now,,, and pass the bill on to our kids who will get it when we are out of office,,, even after two terms.
Just a fraction of the math,,,,
OBAMA budget,,,, 1 trillion (credit card) spending to cover our monthly bills, plus 1 trillion for the economic stimulus plan = 2 trillion dollars (just on these). Divide that by 100 million taxpayers - and if you are unfortunate enough to actually pay federal income tax,,, Mr. Obama has put you on the tab for $20,000 (twenty thousand) dollars. And that's just for these two small parts.
For the rest of you who don't pay any federal income tax,,,,, have you cashed that big check he promised? Have you securred that new "high tech" "high paying" job that he said would replace the "manufacturing" jobs that would "NEVER COME BACK"?
Face it, the left is using the FDR model in an attempt to rebound the ecconomy. However,,,, one of the key componants to the FDR model was the leverage placed on US manufacturing to provide jobs across the entire ecconomy, and create a tangable tax base for local municipalities to generate funds from. As the OP points out,,,, that is no longer an option.
Thank God Bush is out - he wasn't a conservative anyway. But let's not fool ourselves into thinking all is right since the king is dead,,, and jester has assumed the throne.
