There was a time in my life that I believed to cry meant one was~

-Selfish
-Unnecessary
-Annoying

I was often told that if I did not stop, I would be given something to cry "about." It was true and these people in my life were not lying. My stepfather and my mother... back then... did indeed force to stop the tears... by any means.

Well, of course, after that experience, I quickly started associating crying with being "bad." That feelling has followed me a lot of my life.
Even now.... just sometimes... if I am not alone and the tears start...I will go to great lengths to hide them. I turn away, or hope that the other person does. I will leave the room, or just laugh about something dumb to hide them. I normally do pull it off, and I don't always get back to crying, which I know I should.

Since growing up, I have realized that crying is "good"~~~ at least I realize it most of the time~

Happy tears or joyful tears, help us to appreciate more- the blessings we recieve in life~~~

-Our families
-Their triumphs
-Our own triumphs
-Seeing the joy of others and sharing in it
-Those unexpected gifts and joys we recieve

Tears of sadness often in the end, bring gladness, if we "allow" that to happen. They help us to~~~

-Grow
-Learn
-Remember
-Heal (this is a big one for me)

Angry tears~~ I purposely saved this one for last to make a point! They~~

-Remind us that we do have power. Power over ourselves!
-They ALSO invoke in us and help us to implement CHANGE!!!!

Tears are good. Crying is good. Anyone that has ever told you or I that crying is bad could not be more wrong! Without tears~~~ many, many tears~~~ there are many things in life that man would not have accomplished~~~ not have created~~~not have learned~~~ not have healed from. With tears~~~ many would live longer, and live happier and more fulfilling lives.

This is from a little widow lady here that is sensitive (sometimes too much so). I get my feelings hurt easily and those that hurt me..... rarely "ever" know that they did, and if I do thell them, I don't tell them how "deep" the scar. Only God knows.

I was once told by someone that knows~~~ I should cry often~~~ well I am here to say more people should cry more often. Especially with all the trials of the current times.......just some food for thought my friends.

I was a scrapper when I was a kid. I got into a lot of fights in middle school and High school..I used to warn those I fought, that if I starting crying during the fight, it wasn't because I was a wimp or scared, it was because I was enraged beyond control. Not in so many words of course. My saying was "make me cry, make you die"...after I almost beat a kid to death I had to go through therapy and vow never to get into a fistfight again..My parents were pretty upset and I was lucky I didn't go to juvenile detention. The kid recovered and became one of my best friends through high school. I am so glad those days are behind me....I was just a kid, I didn't understand what was going on. It was really me lashing out at my parents who argued all the time. Now I'm a perfectly well rounded individual!!!

I believe cyrying is a good thing!

IMO.. it is a release of an excess of a particular emotion felt at the time, and without the release the emotion can wear one down, both physically, and metally......

I watched a movie the other day "Marley and Me" It was very good!,and very
moving! For the first time in about 3 years ;I felt my own tears ,on my cheeks.
Very cleansing, and renewing Sorta like an orgasim.....I wish I could utilizize the benefits of crying more,
but, for the time being I use as excersize as a way for release of excess of emotion Great Blog

Good blog! I shed more tears last Sunday then I have since my pa died in 2000.
Tears are strange. The ones I shed for my ma passing away on Sunday only came out when I tried to talk about it.
The ones for my sons college graduation came when I couldnt give a whoop & holler after they mentioned his name at diploma time.
