The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo, you guessed it, your identity was just stolen.

The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma , Illinois , and Colorado This is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they are with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

Here's a link to the FBI on this scam.

very clever scammers
I hope, when they are caught, to be handed a very powerful verdict.
they are not only stealing money from people
They are:
- stealing money
- stealing identities
- making people distrust the whole Judicial System

If I were the judge I would give them LIFE..WITHOUT PAROLE..
Boy.....It felt good

Not such a new thing... It was happening in Utah about a 1 1/2 years ago.. Be safe.. never give your information over the phone unless you really know the person.. take precautions to protect your identity.. do the foot work.. you also need to remember.. On this one.. think about it.. they were pretending to be the courts.. don't thing for a minute they can't get that information if they need it.. they can without calling you.. If someone calls you saying they are your financial institution needing your information.. they already have it.. they don't need to call you...

Be smart, beware..

Nobody gets my personal info ......The scammers are getting smarter....we re4ally have to keep all our wits about us. Maybe, without naming names, we can keep a thread going on the various angles they try to pull on us.?

Just my thoughts
