As per the "plan, arrival was right on time, which is quite remarkable, considering you can't even get from here to there without some sort of delay of one kind or another. I once spent 12 hours sitting in a plane on the tarmac at La Guardia. So to come halfway around the world ( or there abouts...it's a freaking form of speech for goodness sake) and actually being on time is amazing.
Apparently no hassles at the US Customs Desk concerning the gravy and crumpets. This is a good thing....
After a few beers, we decided to make dinner...all the while switching over to wine at the appropriate time. Looked to be quite the colaboration of Welsh and American efforts too. Califorian wine ( of course) and a baked chicken breast, along with a wonderful blend of coos coos and sweet peas.
While misschoos was out back, getting to know OZ The Great and Powerful, I made the gravy...heh heh....THIS was gonna be good!
When everything looked perfect, and the wine glasses refilled, I called misschoos ( with a small "m" because that is the way she likes it) in from her playful rough housing with Oz, The Great and Powerful, and began to dish up what promised to be a delicious meal.
Things were going rather nicely as I reached for the ladle so I could smother my coos coos with the PERFECT gravy, she says to me...she says...
" What do you think you are doing? What's that then? Gravy?"
I looked up, suddenly aware, and remembering.... that there are certain things one is not supposed to be putting gravy on. I could feel the anticipation of warm delicious gravy fading as quickly as the sunset outside the kitchen window. In a desperate attempt to somehow salvage this long anticipated delicacy, I said..." I was gonna put a little on my chicken breast....if that's ok....??"
" Dear Dear" she said....." who mentioned having gravy tonight anyway?"
" Ummm...well...I was just thinking..."
" Well stop that and just eat your coos coos the way it should be eaten...here...try some soy sauce."
" Soy sauce?"
" Yes...try it..." " Umm...ok....soy sauce...it is then..."
By then the sun had gone down, and we settled in on a wonderful meal...and the gravy?
Oz The Great and Powerful was quite happy a little later. He loves misschoos.....he follows her everywhere now.....
I almost went outside after dinner to see if Oz had any left overs. But , to my great disappointment, there was nothing left.
Oh well...I shall try again tonight. After all...she brought gravy for something I am sure.
I can't wait.

What a fantastic time for you both... welcoming a special friend to your part of the USA! Do all those things you planned to do with mischoos (with a small m because she likes it that way) .. this is a wonderful time in your life, don't waste one moment .. talk, eat, enjoy each others company and make memories that will keep each of your hearts warm when the 8th of June passes and she must return to Wales.
I am sooo happy for you both.. I feel like bursting at the seams... you have a wonderful time.. both of you.

Gee, do like I do, pretend you have NO clue what they are talking about and do it anyway. First, look at them with an amazed look...keep it going for a bit, with your mouth open, say...hunh?... then blink a couple times, shrug your shoulders and go ahead and do it. After a bit, they leave you alone. They figure you either did not hear or that you can't understand. I call it the dumb blonde routine. *snicker* Usually works.

Gads, since everybody is asking and Tunes is way too busy to answer
It's couscous, not coos coos
Here is a picture...couscous is the round stuff on top
Personally I would describe couscous as...um...a sort of a cross between rice and pasta, but not!
What is couscous?
Couscous is a coarsely ground semolina pasta. The grain is a staple in many North African countries. Over the last decade, it's cropped up on American menus and dinner tables. Parboiled couscous is now available in many grocery stores. From Gourmet Spot - You Asked for It
There is a fantastic article about couscous on Wikipedia
And there is your food lesson for the day
