This weekend I was reconnected to an Air Force friend and former room mate from 40 years ago.
Hal and I were stationed at Gentile Air Force Station in Dayton Ohio in 1969. There was no barracks and we were too far from Wright Patterson AFB to stay there, so we all had a housing allowance to stay off base and Hal, myself and 2 other guys were sharing a house.
Hal was the last Air Force buddy I stayed in contact with until 1982, and then lost contact.
This past Friday, I received an e-mail from his wife on Facebook, and she wondered If I was the same guy her husband was stationed with.
She included their phone number, and I called Saturday.
When I called, Hal answered, and when I introduced myself, Hal mentioned my name aloud and I heard his wife in the background scream my name in joy.
We talked for about a half an hour, and reconnected.
Nice to still have an old Air Force buddy to reconnect with from time to time.
