What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us. ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes ~

You were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within you. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as you let your own light shine, you unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As you are liberated from your own fear, your presence automatically liberates others. ~ Nelson Mandella ~

Destiny... that was my inspirational word and what the quotes are taken from. I have often thought about this.. and I wonder if there is a pre-destined plan for each of us, or if we are just drifting through life. I have come to the conclusion that you have to learn to quiet yourself and listen to that tiny voice that you hear when you come to a point in your life when you have to make a decision... and no, not the voice of your mother (as when I had my accident.. I swear I heard my mother's voice in my head saying.. "aren't you glad you have clean undies on")

Or my Nana's voice was there today.. I was in Big Lots looking at a Shepherd's Hook for my Topsy Turvy bag for the tomato plant I am hankering on trying, when this old lady looks at me and asks "what in tarnation are you gonna be doing with that tall thing?" "I am gonna hang a plant on it".. "how are you fixing on putting a plant on that hook".. you get the idea.

Then after I bid my farewell to her, a nice looking man about 42 or 45 max, dressed well and clean cut walks up to me and says "did you know there are a lot of books in the library?" Now, I am looking for the sign someone musta hooked on my sweater.. "Yes, I think I remember that" I said sorta smiling and thinking.. "OK, Alan Funt where the hell are you?".. "Do you think they have books in here also?" he asks looking very intently at me. "I am sure they do, but I have no idea where to tell you to look and I am on my way out now"... "Do you think you could take me to the library?" Again, I am looking for that camera.. I know I am being punked here.. "No, I am on my lunch and need to get back to work, sorry".. and without missing a beat, he looks at me with all seriousness and says.. "oh, is today a work day?".. I bid farewell to him and leave.. I get in the car and put the key in the ignition and I swear to Gawd, my Nana is now in my head saying.. "C... how could you? That may have been Jesus!" (she always told me He might test me one day to see if I really was compassionate and caring.. 'DAMN, I FAILED"... put the car in gear and drove to work riled with guilt.

Guilt is a funny thing. It makes you doubt yourself, your sanity, your worth. I don't really have much use for it, but it finds a way to manifest itself in me at times.. I think all of us have felt it one time or another.. just as in failed relationships... or even at the thought of starting a relationship when one feels something about you or visa versa that may not be true, but based on a few moments of conversation, they have you summed up and wrapped in a bow.. sorta reminds me of the new Toby Keith song.. "I Lost You Anyway"... guilt.. played on his mind also...

Maybe you were right, maybe I could have changed
Sitin' here alone tonight thinkin' 'bout a lot of things
What's a man to say when all the questions start
Hell, I know deep down inside my broken heart

Chorus
Could've tried just a little bit harder
Kissed you just a little bit sweeter
Held on just a little bit longer
Dug down just a little bit deeper
Let the world revolve around you
And given you the stars above
Loved you just enough to make you stay
And I’d lost you anyway

I hate it when it’s like this, baby it’s like that now
Nothing I can say to you, you even care to talk about
How you gonna dress it up, wrap it in a pretty bow
When it’s gone, it’s one for good, baby at least I know

I guess my real point is.. guilt is not your friend. Make peace with your mistakes and learn to not let guilt rule your life. I guess I am in a very contemplative mood these days.. but I realize how very much I need to be with people I love.. and to put aside those that make me feel more guilt that needed.

And because this little guy is so freaking awesome and cute:

Randy Houser.. and a 4 year old doing... "Boots On"

And last.. for gramps: The Pope’s Alaskan Bear Hunt

The Pope went on vacation for a few days to visit the rugged mountains of Alaska. He was cruising along the campground in the Pope Mobile when he heard a frantic commotion just at the edge of the woods. He found a helpless Democrat wearing wearing shorts, sandals, a Vote for Obama hat and a Save the Trees shirt. The man was screaming and struggling frantically, thrashing all about and trying to free himself from the grasp of a 10-foot grizzly bear.

As the Pope watched in horror, a group of Republican loggers wearing Go Sarah shirts came racing up. One quickly fired a 44 magnum slug right into the bear’s chest. The two other men pulled the semiconscious Democrat from the bear’s grasp. Then using baseball bats, the three loggers finished off the bear. Two of the men dragged the dead grizzly onto the bed of their pickup truck while the other tenderly placed the injured Democrat in the back seat.

As they began to leave, the Pope summoned al of them men over to him. “I give you my blessing for your brave actions!” he proudly proclaimed. “I have heard there was bitter hatred between Republican loggers and Democratic environmental activists, but now I’ve seen with my own eyes that this is not true.”

As the Pope drove off, one logger asked his buddies, “Who the heck was that guy?”

“Dude, that was was the Pope,” another replied. “He’s in direct contact with Heaven and has access to all wisdom.”

“Well,” the logger said, “he may have access to all wisdom, but he doesn’t know squat about bear hunting! By the way, is the bait still alive or do we need to go back to Massachusetts and get another one?”
