I'm a born artist, but followed other people's advice and studied botany after school....so I ended up being a laboratory manager!!.....I only could find challenges in designing stuff....anything...from ISO flow charts to identification systems for seed identification and boy oh boy, the photography was the part I enjoyed the most!
Till one day.....after having much trouble with my health working in a chemical environment I asked myself....there must be something more in life than just working to survive....if you can dream it you can do it!!!....but what?.....To start any business takes a lot of courage and money and the timing is the worst ever with our poor economy, but it didn't stop me!
I Had to find an alternative for my health...so I started doing research...all internet based businesses which I can do from home....then I look at the farewell gift my company gave me.....A beautiful pendant and watch set - fashion Jewellery....I've been playing around with making jewellery for a hobby for quite some time, but this at this very moment gave me an idea!!
I've been in an armed robbery and since then I could never enjoy shopping again. I started investigating the marked for online shopping possibilities.....a big shortcoming in South Africa!! If you want to buy jewellery it is unaffordable.....mostly in dollars and over seas sites!
So I sold my house....took all the money I got and started an online based Fashion Jewellery Shopping business for South Africans. I also want to give other young designers the opportunities to get some world wide recognition and show their designs and beading art on my web-site at a low cost, instead of running a website by themselves which can cost quite a lot when online selling is involved.
What about internet fraud? Most South Africans are afraid to use their credit cards online due to increased internet fraud of which I myself was also a victim, therefore I offer on my site electronic transfers or direct payments into our bank accounts. PayPal is not yet affective in South Africa and it is a pity! Credit card payment will only be incorporated later if there is a big request from international customers. A swift code will be provided for direct payments for international customers. In fact...I don't want to encourage the use of credit cards and temp people to make debt to buy my products....we can't afford another credit crunch in the world!....lol
Our site will be up and running in about a month and everyone is welcome!!!
