Nephew made his first call from basic today. I also received a real letter from him today and not just the Dear Mom card. He says reception sucks and that he received 7 shots one day and after a little bit went back for another and promptly passed out. They think he might have been allergic. He says the drill instructors yell all day long and drop them all the time. He has lost 4 pounds and that was just in reception. He says most people are having a hard time and that a few have already quit and a few were arrested for fighting and for trying to hit a drill sargent. He says things are pretty crazy but it keeps him entertained.

I also got the cell phone bill today too. He had 13 dollars worth of roaming fees the day he left. I think the boy was calling several girls several times and he only called me once.

I think he is so hard headed that he will make it through all of this. Reckon where he got that from? Man I am proud of that boy.
