Obama's eye-popping 2 trillion dollar one-year (!) deficit by Jim Backlin www.cc.org May 28, 2009 Barack Obama's budget numbers were recently revised and the deficit now is expected by the Obama administration to top an incredible eye-popping $1.8 trillion for 2009. Some economists actually expect that even this historic deficit total is based on rosy scenarios and will actually top $2 trillion. This is on top of the sobering news that the deficits over the next decade caused by Obama's budgets will be larger than those created by all the previous 43 presidents combined from George Washington to George W. Bush!
The Associated Press reported that Obama's government "will have to borrow nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year, exploding the record federal deficit past $1.8 trillion under new White House estimates." On Fox News' Special Report, it was reported that "The Administration is conceding the economy is not recovering as fast as it would hope and that means these budget deficits, historically large, are probably going to continue for a while.'"
Obama said yesterday that his nearly trillion dollar (with interest added in) stimulus bill which he signed into law, has already created "or saved" 150,000 jobs. By using weasel words such as "jobs saved," the Obama administration will be able to use just about any figure they want to pull out of the air, such as "my administration saved or created 10 million jobs during my first 4 years."
This deception is not going unnoticed by even the liberal media. Recently, McClatchy reported that the White House "projected 2009 and 2010 federal budget deficits far higher than it forecast just two and a half months ago, even as it continued to defy most experts and predict that the economy is headed for a strong comeback starting late this year." Echoing many economists in scoffing at the Obama administration's economic forecasts, Brian Bethune, the chief US financial economist at IHS Global Insight, said, "If they keep playing this game, they're going to have real credibility problems."
The bottom line is -- regardless of deceptive forecasts and misleading statements about results -- if Obama's gargantuan spending programs and his high tax policies and his strangulating regulations regime do not reduce unemployment from its current 9% or so -- and possibly going to 10% according to some economists by next year -- to something like around 5% or 6% unemployment by 2012, his reelection chances will be greatly diminished. Indeed, if there is little improvement by the summer of next year, Obama and his allies in Congress will suffer a big blow during November's congressional elections.

I guess the word change that obama used was a prediction of how much money we will have left in our pockets by the time he is done. That is the best case scenario.
DR you should realize that confusing people with the facts is a bad thing for the obama regime.

This is not about ideology, it's about arithmetic.
Obama is trying to solve the problems caused by runaway spending in Washington by adding even more reckless spending.
It simply cannot be done without bankrupting the country.
Equally as frightening is that liberals keep defending Obama's reckless behavior regardless of how insane it gets. They would like us to think that the laws of arithmetic have somehow been suspended for Obama and 1 plus 1 no longer equals 2.
It's not an ideology issue, it's a math issue, and if we don't get together to stop this out of control spending in Washington, life in America as we know it, for ALL of us, will cease sooner than you think.

Is this a hard core Republican site? I don't know what the political point of view of the site is, but you are asking the wrong question.
The question is whether or not the facts and logic in the article are accurate. If they are accurate, what difference does it make what kind of site they come from?

Obama said yesterday that his nearly trillion dollar (with interest added in)............
I am not an economist but it seems that common sense is not an attribute this administration possesses.
Common sense would dictate that the government does not spend more money than it receives. We all know who will be footing the bill for this lunacy. Borrowing money from China to pay off one debt solves nothing since another debt is incurred while accruing staggering interest charges. Obama is simply throwing gasoline on an already raging fire.
"my administration saved or created 10 million jobs during my first 4 years." Yeah...and I was just elected King of England!
Take your money out of the bank and bury it in the back yard because that is probably Obama's next target. While you're at it, brush up on your Chinese language skills. The commies will be here soon since they now own our country.

Obama said yesterday that his nearly trillion dollar (with interest added in) stimulus bill which he signed into law, has already created "or saved" 150,000 jobs. According to the monthly emplyoment report, 345,000 jobs were lost during the month of May. I forget the exact number but between 500,000 - 600,000 jobs were lost in the preceding month. Exactly which country is he creating these jobs in, because it sure as hell isn't here.

I stumbled upon this quote which seems appropriate regarding Obama:
The men the American public admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth.

Obama doesn't get it..You can't spend your way out of a recession like FDR did with so much debt lingering over your head... It's like using a credit card to pay a credit card...Sooner or later the bill becomes due... With each month Obama is in office another nail gets driven into our nations coffin...
DR you're right... Obama has spent more then all those president combined in just 5 months time.. I can just imagine 4 years worth of this wreckless spending.. Our nation will be a ticking time bomb.....
OBAMA HASN'T CREATED EVEN ONE JOB FOR THE AMERICAN WORK FORCE...NOT A ONE..HE IS 6 MILLION IN THE WHOLE ALREADY AND THE NUMBERS ARE GROWING..

A recent Associated Press-GfK poll found that 41 percent of those surveyed disapproved of Obama's handling of the deficit, his highest disapproval rating on any subject polled. Other surveys show that the public is particularly attuned to government spending and the amount of red ink in the budget. It's about freakin' time people are waking up.
While they were sleeping and saying "he's only been in office a month, give him a chance," he opened up the doors to the US treasury and gave a free pass to every crook and corrupt poltician to run in and grab as much as they could steal and run off with. He had America's belt off and pants down before too many people even realized what his agenda is.
VOTE OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS OUT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

The only jobs Obama has created are jobs that have cost the US tax payer and are actually made up in his fanasty land delusions....
Obamas unemployment figures and employment figures change on a daily bases to suit his needs.. With each day he pulls a new figure out of the air from the land of OZ..Because that is where Obama is living..OZ..He surly isn't living in America...
We as a nation won't feel the real true effects of the Obama gang for a couple years from now..Once the bomb hits the world of reality our nations ship will sink from the heavy load of debt.. The youth of America will be forced to pan handle on the streets saying..BROTHER CAN YOU SPARE A DIME...
