Why does a blog get so many views yet so few comments? Do people stop reading 1/2 way through? Are we enticed by the title then let down?
Maybe we are afraid to share our thoughts................ Afraid to let someone know we stopped by. Afraid that we will be judged or questions.
This is a dating site and people can't get to know you just by your profile. I have met some very nice men and women here through the blogs and by the comments made. Not just by profiles.
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and meet people. Ya never know who is waiting to hear what you have to say. Give a comment a shot....................

That's just it, people are scared to give their opinion because they are worried about how people will react. Look at me for instance. Everyone attacks me constantly (usually the leftist moonbats who can't think for themselves) because i say what i think and feel. But, we have to look at it from this point of view, no one here affects my life in any way. They have nothing to do with it. can't be scared of the cliques here jumping on you. They don't own this site nor do they have any part in our lives. Enjoy the good and the bad and always say what you feel.

Well Jus, I'm not afraid and often will put my foot in my mouth lol, and because of my name I often will get told where to go, given a map or a gps, either way, I like your blogs sometimes comment or sometimes not because they all the time don't require a comment. I will try to remember to at least say a little something next time just to let you know, Hey I was here Take care Lost

Hi New to site but I will agree some are afraid of being judged on their comment, to a thread. I think we all have our own opinions and should be able to voice them. I also think we should be able to reply to any comments, but it should be done in a kind manner, then maybe more would like to be involved.

Well Just, Personally I'm new to this blogging thing, however I came from some site where I wrote allot of posts, and the response to view ratio depending on who wrote them and how interesting they were, most view to post ratios were 1 of 8/9 as an average, but those who wrote post that kept peoples attention and wrote about life love and relationships seem to draw in more comments 3 of 7 the more relative the post, the more responses it gets, and certain topics got 6of 8 responses. Allot is going to be the mood and the post as well as the fear factor some have mentioned. As some of the threads have some really mean and hateful responses. This blog thing surprises me, that it's not confrontational, like the threads.
It seems to be a different class of people here, or atleast more easy going, and not mean spirited. But everyone should have a right to speak their mind especially if it's not attacking another for no reason.Unless of course it was like that weirdo who wrote that crazy blog the other day, and was deleted.

Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to your question jm836. But what I am currently being "enticed" by are those gorgeous blue eyes you have!

I honestly dont care what people say or think about me, I know who I am better than anyone. I tend not to comment on the blogs that require approval. I have made valid points to blogs only to have them ignored. I dont want to waste my time. I am the last one to be afraid to share my thoughts. As for my profile, I am trying to scare people away.
RWR, I think its sad that people have to attack others over ones oppinions or views on topics. And resort to name calling or insults, like in a blog I just viewed about abortion. I my last BGE blog i made a reference to you after you were attacked by mr eskimo home. Though I did mention you as Miss conservative, no disrespect, just didnt want my blog deleted by typing your name. Oh and I see you seeing me type this. Both you and Lost add valid points, even if they dont agree with my stance, I am always glad to hear..........see your input. And those who comment as well. Also RWR, I would never attack you, partly because I have respect for you and what you or anyone else has to say, and that if I expect my thoughts to be heard.............seen, then I should allow others to do the same without crying to mommy. oops.
Good blog justme.

Why does a blog get so many views yet so few comments? Speaking for myself, I read most blogs all the way thru if the title looks interesting. If I feel I have something worthwhile to input, I'll comment. Other times I have nothing to comment on, so I won't. And if someone has already left a comment similar to what I would write, I figure why post the same thing?
For me, I have no fear of commenting or "getting out there", I just don't feel the need to comment on everything I read.

I made a comment on someone's blog one time and they wrote and thanked me, so I sez to them...did you read my blog (hint hint!), and the reply I got accused me of being a pandering whore seeking comments for my own blogs, and how dare me to infer that they should feel obliged to make a comment in kind of one of mind just because I graced their's with my own...so I then tried to explain that my *hint hint* was just a polite tease for the spirit of some MD friendly reciprocity on us members part to support each other here in the MD blogs and the next response I got was to ask me if I wanted them to delete my comments from their blogs because they refused to "play" along...I have done this often and only ever got positive results until this person with their self-righteous indignation came along my way...and so I finally sez they can put my comment where the sun don't shine and I know they was capable of doing just that...because they sounded pretty anal retentive, hey!

I agree that name calling is sad. To me it only shows a lack of intelligence. This is why I leave them on my blogs. If people want to show their ignorance to all on my blog, so be it.
We all have a point that is worth being heard. I admit that many of mine are stupid and wrong but they are mine. They will also not wait for approval. That stops my comments instantly.

Good blog.
I have alway's been glad to be the one who just types down the first thing that pops into her head. I don't waste time wondering what others will think...I also think you need more kudo's.
I'm leaving mine on the way out.

You are right about some people being intimidated. Yet the one subject on which each of us is undisputable authority, is how we feel about something. No one can say we are wrong about that.
Another consideration is that some blogs are so complete in themselves, that there is nothing meaningful left to add. We can say they are beautiful, or heartwarming, but after a couple of those, it has all been said. One woman's poems are like that. I love them, but can say nothing to add to them. Her honest outpouring of her feelings leaves me respectfully silent.
Also, in favor of MD, it is unusual to see someone trolled, where a greater number of commenters fail to take his/her part, or defend the innocent commenter. And like RWR said, a comment has no power to harm us, unless we grant it that power.

How about the people who actually comment on your blog, then cancel their memberships so you can't respond to them. What is up with that? Are they afraid of the answer to their response?

It's not worth commenting because there's no renewal feature, so comments disappear quickly. If there was renewal, posts with most comments would always appear on top. The way it's set up now, popular threads vanish just as quickly as the unpopular.
