Chat, a once spinning hub of conversation was dying and now gone. Members on line are a low 400 combined. It just seems to be slowing down and thinning out.

Is it the economy? Sponsorships just not out there as they used to be?
Mods have even seemingly gone quiet.
I sure miss their out of the blue comments in forums and blogs.
I have been a member loyal to Macthdoctor since their second week of being online.
I have seen alot come and go, but what I see now is different. This is empty.
Is it all most over?
What do you think could be done to bring back this site to its glory days?
Have ya noticed, that myspace chat is gone too?

omgoodness  there is my gf..........nope ...........I believe that there are glitches like everyone else.........it is summertime around the corner.....  .....probably mods are on vacation ect as everyone has to have some time to relax to.....it is a site........and they all need breaks......  ........I think that the site is just going doing some changes........I am not worried I have full confidence.....in it an burns........  your not around as much .........

While to some, this is merely a way to pass time, to others it's been a lifeline for making new friends, receiving prayers, & knowing others care in the worst of times. I don't think MD will ever close up... not by the choice of us die-hards anyway.

I remember when they got rid of forums for awhile perhaps its just an update.
I sure would hate to see this site got belly up without a fight.

no, I didn't notice that other chat was gone, too. I am always on here and haven't been on there in awhile. I have noticed that some days the "online count" is barely over 300. When I first joined over a year ago that count was over 900, sometimes topped 1000. It hasn't been long since it was 800+. Yes, we definitely need to recruit more members and keep this site ALIVE. We need to brainstorm, then actually follow through with the best ideas.
I sure miss their out of the blue comments in forums and blogs. I was just thinking that myself this week.

Completely Confident... .........with the site..........  I am always happy here.....it's a great site and fun people here to play...........I will always remain here and as I said............... it is probably going thru changes......good one's.......

vote out option, across the board blockage, better "social networking tools"

Yeh, it is slow but it's like that on other sites as well, very few people posting. I just think it's the economy, it has people feeling down.

I think people come and go, some remaining. Retaining the newcomers is a key idea, as there is a steady attrition of old members for various reasons.
Go through the blogs with the eyes of a first visitor, from a Newbie's point of view..
Do you feel welcome to comment? Or do you get a sense of old friends making reference to private jokes that exclude newcomers?
When you read how people relate to each other, do you feel "This is my kind of place, I would be comfortable here"?
Would you like to meet the blogger in person, and perhaps have a date?
Are your core ethical beliefs accepted here, or ridiculed?
Do you want to stay for more, or is the sample enough to make you move on?
I believe that welcoming and encouraging new visitors, and especially new bloggers, will rebuild the number of online members. When I see a blogger I never read before, I should make it a point to read his blog, and encourage him, not pass him by because I don't know him.
Also, supporting and encouraging those who craft good blogs regularly, who post through thick and thin, is something we can all do. Many blogs show a lot of thought and effort. The least we can do is to show our appreciation for that effort.
Also, with a mixed membership, there is bound to be some difference of opinion. We can't always agree, but we can always comment with the golden rule in mind, treating others the way we wish to be treated, with respect. That way, visitors will be drawn to our diverse discussions, nor repulsed by our rudeness, as well as all of us enjoying a more civil level of relatioship..
It is we the bloggers and commentators who are causing the trends in MD membership. Looking up at the numbers who's online, I think it is time for us all to try a little harder, strive to be a little more open to others, and be a bit kinder. It is we who will win or lose this site by our efforts.

well it's summer and everyone is more busy .. more yard work to do .. it's almost 9 pm here and I'm just now sitting down at the computer .. and I still haven't eat .. so I think everyones busy and pop in and out all day and sometimes at night.

It would be good if they did go through some changes to keep up with the other sites. This is by far one of the easiest sites to maneuver around. But the membership is really low. At least the bickering seems to have slowed down a lot. This is the reason I quit coming here as much.

Personally . . . I've lived happily & contentedly for 44 years without MD. I always had fun times with my friends here in town that I could actually go out & do things with, not just sit at a keyboard.
If it goes, it goes. I'm trippin' out on living life, not living virtual reality!!
