Mysterious happenings are going on here on MD. And it's not a good thing.

Last week I posted a comment on a blog. Admittedly it was kind of a long comment, but it was polite and informative, not harsh in any way. I had also given the blogger a kudo. Then, a little later, I pulled the blog back up to see what new comments it had. I liked the blog . To my shock my comment was gone! I had even scrolled down after I had posted it to make sure it had posted. I am ashamed to say that I emailed the blogger semi-politely asking why my comment had been removed, but complaining that I felt I had wasted my kudo. Turned out she had not removed my comment. She hadn't even seen it yet. We exchanged a few more polite emails and I think (hope) all is well now.

Last night I posted a comment on a fun, light-hearted blog. In my opinion, all the comments were fun, happy comments. I even got a MUCH needed, hearty laugh from the blog (it combined with the comments). Today when I got here (actually my day off, but I had to come in and work), before I got started working I got on here to check my e-mails. I also checked that blog to see if there were new comments, which there were....ALL were good - in my opinion (and that of the blogger's). So I added another, what I thought was fun, comment. Just a little bit ago, as I took a break from my work I pulled the blog up again. MY COMMENT WAS GONE! Again, as I posted it, I scrolled down to make sure it had posted. I emailed the blogger as politely as possible. I wanted to know if he removed it or if it 'mysteriously disappeared.' He HAD NOT removed it. He had enjoyed ALL of the comments. Soooooo.......what gives......

Fellow MD members......PLEASE.......if you make a comment on someone's blog and it disappears....... DO NOT JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS! Give the blogger the benefit of the doubt and email them as politely as possible to find out if they removed it or if it "mysteriously disappeared."
I figure one of two things is happening:

1) There is a GLITCH in the system and comments are randomly disappearing.
OR
2) Someone is somehow getting into people's blogs and deleting comments in an effort to restart blog wars, trouble, fights, and bad feelings among the members to further hurt our beloved site.

I truly, TRULY hope the problem is the 1st possibility and gets fixed soon. But either way, it is happening and I wanted to bring it to everyone's attention so no one gets bent out of shape needlessly.

Let's stay calm and Thank You For Reading My Blog!!

I think I am going to save my old blogs. The old cut and paste because i dont want to lose my thoughts. Something is amiss at MD.

I was just thinking the same thing last night. I need to start copying/saving all the ones I don't have a copy of.

I have a complete collection of my blogs on Word or notebook....not taKing any chances. Unfortunately nothing surprises me here anymore and I haven't bothered to blog lately...just keep in touch with a few nice people.

Sorry you're going thru this. It would be interesting to find out how many others are losing their "words".

Fondly,

Knittin Kitten

I experienced the same, but assumed that I had exited the comment form without hitting post.

At 66, I have made a jacka$$ of myself enough times to NOT assume someone has done me wrong. Asking is wiser, and saves eating a lot of humble pie.

Putting blogs that you have commented on in your "Favorites" lists them for a recheck later.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have really got to figure out how to 'save' these things into my computer. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Yes, tom, I can relate to that "humble pie" thing.
Knittin' your blogs are missed. Hope you find it to write one again sometime soon.

It's my opinion, but there are only 2 ways for blog comments (or blogs) to disappear.
1) deletion by the blog author
2) deletion by a member of Matchdoctor staff.

Were you actually thinking someone other than Matchdoctor staff could crack members passwords?

You never know. Stranger things have happened....it's the Internet.....I have seen that happen on other sites.
But regardless of the reason, the main purpose of this blog isn't to figure out the reason, but to simply make people aware it is happening so no one jumps to conclusions and all stays calm on here. I bet it will be fixed soon and all will be back to normal.

Thank you for sharing that ... I will check and recheck .. you can save your blogs by copy/pasteing them into notebook and then save them.

It is possible to get people's password and get into their accounts. Another site that I am on, it happens all the time. Friends list, comments, tags, and some of the games we have played disappear. There are hackers on these sites. I have even got a few trojans from some of these hackers.

ky, yes, it is possible. Hackers have gotten into two of my regular e-mail accounts and my PayPal account. My PayPal got shut down and I had to start all over because of it. One of my girls got locked out of her yahoo account for a long time that way (her password was changed) and it was a mess for her to get back into it. We even managed to find out who had hacked into it. And I have known several people on another site to have theirs gotten into and stuff disappear. Even one of my own websites has gotten hacked into and stuff deleted. It is usually bored, intelligent people simply using their intelligence the wrong way. Sad

But I'm still really hoping it's just a glitch on here.

I've had upwards of at least 900 blogs in my time here...I've never saved any and delete them regularly...maybe I should save some...Something to ponder.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a glitch because chat had one that couldn't get fixed, it had two chat boxes up at one time and sometimes you couldn't sign on to chat. I think that's why it got removed. Although there are many theories many times the chat box would jump and start over or just boot everyone out and start over, so there was definately something wrong with the system. Who knows. Take care Lost

OMG Fender, with that many wonderful blogs you should put them all into a Book of Blogs and publish it. You and a couple of other people on this site. They would be best sellers, I am sure, and draw a LOT more people to this site.

i am just wondering, couldnt it be that your ISP service provider signal could be intermittent occasionally
