Hi everyone!
Listen, I want to clear up this rumor mill going on here. We are NOT closing down. I am not sure where you guys got that one from, but it is certainly not the case.
As for chat/IM - I am sorry, everyone. We had to shut it down due to increased costs. Only 1% of our member base used it and we just couldn't keep it around any longer.
We encourage everyone to take part in our forums, blogs and personal messages to continue to get to know your fellow Matchdoctor community. There is still plenty of site to use and enjoy!

Thankyou for clarifying things for us. I've been using the site and adutmatchdoctor for years and have met some very interesting people. This is without doubt the best site of its kind on the internet. The blogs have always been my playground and once in a while I'll venture into the forums. Its actually an important part of my day ..reading, writing and commenting on blogs and if this site closed down, I would be hard pressed to find a replacement.

I did write to MD nearly a week ago,sadly no reply as yet.What happens to those of us who have paid for the Gold Membership and cannot IM anymore. Pleased to hear MD is not closing down,son many lovely people on here. I would like to know as I am sure the rest of the Gold Members would also like this matter cleared up.

Well if MD were at risk of closing down they could always introduce user payments based on the amount of flooding in religion and politics.

What the hay, there was no warning for the chatroom shutting down? You took their money (gold members) and then when they tried to log into their daily chat abuse, they could not get in? oh my, I'm sure some had a total meltdown... they probably had to kick the dog a couple extra times. I know some ruined it for the rest of us - saying because they were gold members they could taunt and berate as much as they wanted because MD would not cut them off as long as they were paying the $8/month. They were kicked off other "dating" sites too, so oh well, they will find another chatroom and victims, they always do. As for the nice people of chat, try writing a blog!

i miss chat and i was one who went into there regularly. I think some people were banned for no reasons and others who caused trouble stayed.. maybe the good ones got tired of this got up and left.. hence the 1%..

The chat room was open to all members so I feel complaining about a loss in a freebie doesn't carry the same weight.
Moderator... I knew of a few messageboards using a channel on IRC to link to a free chat room. You could enter via the IRC client or some (possibly) Java script by Explorer browser. That could be a solution to a replacement chatroom.
