Years ago, I dated a guy who owned a 1970’s Chevrolet. He’d had it shipped over to the UK from the States. It was pure white and had a long front seat that was bright red leather.
You could hardly hear the engine, in fact sometimes at traffic lights I asked him if it had stalled!
Recently, whilst driving in to town, I remembered the car and thought how since I’ve been in America I haven’t seen any like it. In fact, I thought.. come to think of it, I hardly ever see any old Chevrolets at all.
“Whats that one?” I ask Gregg, as soon as I see something that looks familiar. “Oh that’s a Cadillac.” .. after looking closer I could see that it wasn’t a Chevrolet.
We have been talking about getting me a car to get me some transport, I don’t need a big truck, I just need something to get me to HEB and back.. well.. ok.. maybe to town sometimes too but that’s all. So it doesn’t matter if it’s a guzzler because I wouldn’t be driving it that often, and I may as well have a car I enjoy driving. (I’m not sure at this point if I’m trying to convince you or me)
So I suggested an older car, a big car, like an old Chevrolet, but it seems that all the still existing ones are collectors’ cars or stuck in garages, because you never see them on the roads here. I see endless Caddys but not old Chevys.
Where did all the Chevys go.

You need to go to Mexico or Cuba to find the old ones. Those folks can sure keep them running.

just beautiful. its like a tank and made from solid metal. and who knows if you look after yours after its 25 years old it becomes an antique and you might get a fortune for it... especially with whats been happening in todays vehicle manufacturers.
a word of advice tho, make sure you have enough spare parts for services etc, especially since there are not so many around anymore
and convertable.... how much fun is that?

I can tell you where one went.
My aunt&uncle had a 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS convertible, 396 3-speed. Blue w/white top. They bought it new, drove it for a few years, then let it sit on their property until it oxidized, and sold it for next to nothing.
I have to go vomit now.

So bye-bye, miss American pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing, "this'll be the day that I die.
Sorry but that is where they all are...down at the levee......

Every once in a while there is a decent one on eBay, I saw a 63 just a few days ago that looked pretty solid for $2500. I have a 65 I've had for almost 40 years now that I am putting back into shape, so I look at what's there in case I need parts and just because I like old cars. I hope ya find one, they are so much more fun than these new cars.

That was back in the day when REAL cars existed.
I'll never forget when a guy rear ended me as I was in the parking area for the Green Lake County Fair on year. His modern day Mazda had the front end all smashed in... all it did to my 78' Impala station wagon was bend the license plate & knock some rust out of the bumper. LOL

As soon as I looked at the picture, I recalled the 1972 (almost) avacado green Chevrolet Impala my parents had. I also recall driving that land yacht about town quite a bit.
