I wrote this a year after my father had died.He was such a wonderful loving man who never judged anyone.he loved everyone no matter if you were black,white,asian,if you were rich,poor or middle of the road,he treated everyone as if they were his best friend,He left behind a legacy.I love him so very much. Note: I changed some of it to match the year.
Letter To Daddy
How do you say goodbye to someone you love so much?
When you need to hear his voice & feel his loving touch.
Five years ago today I held you in my arms & kissed you goodnight.
I sang you a sweet song & held you oh so tight.
I knew the time was coming fast & I'd have to let you go.But there were thingsI needed to say & things you needed to know.
Like how much you meant to me & how much I loved you so.
I begged God to let you stay but He made it clear it was time to let you go.
Your breathing slowed as you slowly slipped away from me.
I cried,I screamed I asked God how He could let this be?
You were the only one who knew what was deep within my heart.
The thought of never seeing you again just tore my soul apart.
But then I suddenly realized this was not to be forever.
I knew in God's due time that once again we would be together.
For God took you to His great kingdom above & I would see you with all those I have dearly loved.
You fought many battles and finally won the war.
But all your pain & suffering ended the minute you walked through heaven's door.
There is not a day that goes by that I don't cry & talk to you & wish you were here beside me.
Even though I am 45 now I am still "Daddy's Little Giel" & that is something I will ALWAYS be!
I love & miss you daddy.I'll see you the other side,
Yes folks he was a wonderful & awesome man.He has left me hundreds of letters from people he has helped in one way or another.He has 2 letters from George Bush Sr. Letters from congressmen,lawyers,pastors,police,every day common folks.He held no grudges & opened his arms to anyone who wanted to be held in them.
Please make an extra special effort to tell your dad just how special he is to you,.Once he is gone,it's over.
