Since a certain person has banned me from posting on his blogs... i've decided to post my responses here. You see, debate is about hearing the other side... some people don't like that...
anyway, global warming... i am not a meteorologist or a climate scientist. But... to me the issue is not even about the actual warming of the earth... its about how we effect the earth's systems as a whole. We effect the earth in many ways... most of them are stressful to the environment. Has Global Warming been "proven" a fact. No. But it's not really something we should be toying with either in my opinion. There exists alot of evidence that it is happening, and there is very little debate in the scientific community, other than with scientists hired by the oil/gas industry. Fossil fuels are a finite resource anyway and we should be looking to the future to make the transition as easy as possible.
No scientific theory is ever proven. The evidence just either gets stronger or weaker that a theory is correct based on observations. Weather systems are very complex and it is difficult to know what is causing what... especially in the long term. If you hear someone say they know for sure that global warming is or is not a fact... dont believe them. Because they don't and they are trying to sell you something. Be weary of people who have all the answers, they are usually full of sh*t... or work for the oil/gas lobby.

I agree, and they're called theories for a reason. Any thinking person should be able to look at an industrial smokestack and realize it's potential danger. Most people don't park their cars inside their homes and leave them running, and for good reason.
I hate that "it's my ball and I'm going home" way some folks have too, concerning the comment deal.

I think by now everyone knows global warming is a hoax. The powers that be know this, so they've changed it to "climate change". Of course this isn't stopping the likes of Obama and company from using it to get a much huger chunk of our money.

Been watching and reading several reports from study's on the Ice Caps and Glacier retreats.. Time lines on the ebb and flow of their sizes is very interesting.
A couple showed time laps of the Calving and retreats. LOL Seems the ice believes at least.

It was in the news yesterday that Norwegian Statoil's biggest refinery continuously produces more CO2 than the entire vehicle ownership of Norway - on account of a completely inappropriate method of production (which is also the cheapest).
Now I would say that would have some effect. The programme stated that Canada's oil and gas production - which was comparable in scale to Norwegian Statoil's - produced a small fraction of the CO2 emissions of Statoil.
It was a major embarrassment for Scandinavia's high-profile ecological policy. Most major Scandinavian banks have large investments in Statoil's production -despite their official policies of non-investment in production with a high level of environmental pollution.
But check out the fog horizon of any major city between rush hours to see the haze of emissions generally...

Let us face it. The large companies are not going to do anything about it because it amounts to money. There is solar power, but how much money can they charge us for the sun? There are anwers to many of our problems but it all boils down to profit.

The catch phrase save the Earth doesn't makes sense to me. The Earth will be drastically different, but; it will still be here, it is you that may not be here. So the pollution in China at the Olympics is a good thing, and we should have much more of this. Nothing is better than the smell of pollution in the morning.

perhaps if each one of us paid less attention to what everyone says and get out there to plant at least 5 trees a month, they would create more oxygen.
we need to play catch-up now, the Amazon rain forest is coming down at an alarming rate. some places are heating up some freezing up, so what... we need more trees.

And once again, we run into what a scientist means when he uses the word theory and what a lay person means when using the same word.
When John Q. Public uses the word "theory" he means a guess.
When a scientist uses the term, he means:
An analytic structure designed to explain a set of observations. A theory does two things:
1. it identifies this set of distinct observations as a class of phenomena, and
2. makes assertions about the underlying reality that brings about or affects this class.
When scientists speak about the theory of evolution or the theory of global warming, they do not mean they are guessing as to how something happened. They mean that have tested a series of hypotheses against observed phenomena and the result is the theory. The theory is the answer to the question, and not the question itself.

How about this one people the reasons we are given today for global warming and the heating of the earth are the VERY SAME REASONS and arguments given in the 1970s for the new ice age and the slow and inevitable cooling of the earth. TALK ABOUT YOUR THEORIES LOOK IT UP

I so love when non-scientists tell us when scientific findings are...a hoax.
How do they know? Did they run tests? Study data? Derive new theories?
Everyone knows? Every scientific association, non-political and weather associated, in the world, agrees to the data pointing to global warming. Every....scientific...association...non-political...having to do with weather...agrees to the findings and assertions that human beings are warming the earth.
Even some meteorological associations of political appointees (e.g., state climatologists) agree...while others don't deny...or agreee...they just remain ...uncertain. Political hacks...believers...uncertain.
Who argues its a hoax???
Ideologues. People for who the belief is more central than understanding and following data. Why? Because...like weight loss, nutrition and other sciences related to our behaviors....we don't want to change our behavior. Farrrrrr more simple to deny....science.
I hope all these people refuse to take their heart and cholesterol medicine because it always tries to make available the latest and best science has to deliver, using the same methods, the same kinds of use of logic and evidence as do those arguing we're in deep doodoo with the weather.
If you want to believe old science tells us why we shouldn't believe new science, then please....don't believe any of it. Live like smoking doesn't kill. Live like asbestos doesn't kill. Live like everything we know from science is a hoax.
Or be skeptical, as science is...bring your questions and inquiry...and inqure.
Leave the beliefs in the trash can as you come in....

Skyscraper how's it going dude..I will agree with you on alot of what your saying here..Earth is indeed a living organ and no ones truly knows what tempering with anything will actually do..It's all a guessing game and sometimes we guess wrong.. Sometimes right... All I know is we can't sit back and watch the heat levels go up without trying something... We may all die from heat stroke..

I still remember a hoax about global warming. A magazine published a flat out lie saying the Pope denounced Global Warming as a myth. Then someone on this site put it in a blog praising the Pope. Imagine how utterly foolish he felt when he found out he fell for a complete lie.
